I'm getting a new TRD clutch cuz I tore up the stock clutch and pressure plate...
I want to know if anyone has info on the percentage of gripping power over stock..
like clutch-masters stage III is 110% over stock...
does anyone else have this clutch? tell me about the performace gain after the install..litte or great?
thanks
no specific # but I can tell you the grip is instantenous at all times with this clutch and the pressure plate is really harsh.. like it takes alot to get it down.. or alteast it does on my car..

Yeps..dude..
I spin out in like 1st gear almost everytime I pull outta the parking lot...if I'm not paying attention..heh. It's quite nice..mwhah.
I'm not too sure on how much it's helped me..but one's thing for sure..it REALLY helps transfer the power.
I recently raced phaqgm on the highway from a roll..and even though he's got intake/exhaust and a couple of other things...I was able to make steady progress against him..he was about at my door and we took it up to way past over a 100.
I slowly but steadily pulled away(fuggin tight race), although he woulda whooped my ass on those crazy backroads of his.
I only have intake and S-AFC on my car..so you can bet I was surprised...we started out pretty even.
It was fun as hell too..lol..I haven't done anything like that in quite awhile and he took us all on an amazing drive on the backroads next to his house.
I'm jealous of him lol..I think I'm moving to Bellevue..heh.
But yeah..in the beginning the clutch is AMAZINGLY sensitive...the Les Schwab guy almost put my car through the wall when he was pulling up to put new tires in it..heh.
Of course that was the very next day after I had the clutch put in.
LOL..I forgot..I practically left patch marks in the Toyota parking lot..LOL.
I came in later on that week..and the service guy reminded me..."Hey..be careful..that clutch is SENSITIVE!"
I was like..you shoulda told me that BEFORE I drove the car off the lot!
Oh..and as for the pressure plate..I haven't had any problems with mine..my flywheel was resurfaced also..but I have no problems with engaging or disengaging the clutch.
It's pretty smooth...

COOOOL!!
I can't wait to get it in..
how much was the install and the resurface of the flywheel??
will Toyota give a good price? I want to see if it's worth doing myself w/ the help of a friend. and, of course, having a shop resurface the flywheel...
prolly improve my track time, I ran a 15.0 quarter this summer when the clutch started showing signs..especially when dropping into second (and that is w/ Goldline springs and Kuhmo Z tires and unbolted exhaust...no other mods)...after this weekend if everthing goes well, I'll take it to the track and tell y'all about it..
thanks, laterz

I have the TRD Jap spec clutch it a little stronger than the American version. It mad for an upgrade on the Sports M Celica. I Luv it feels stronger than stock and def a little tighter. It grabs a little sooner but not as harsh as Larry describes. But then again I am the only one I know of with the Jap spec one. I also have the TRD Jap Spec Pressure Pate and throwout bearing.

Yes you should get it. You really need both. Bottle has them in stock and I had mine in 5 buisness days. The TRD Jap Spec Clutch disk was 180 i think and the pressure plate was 270 and the throwout bearing was 45. Go to www.phronline.com (http://www.phronline.com) and ask for bottle or email him. Calling is better though but I dont have the number but you can get his number from the webpage he is usually there afternoon (Eastern) time. He is in Florida by the way. His service is great and If I were you I would order everything form him cause if you dont replace the pressure plate now it does not make sense because your upgrading the clutch. You really need to do both. Hope this helps.
Peace
Ryan

I also got the japanese spec TRD clutch from bottle and it is exactly like what 6SPDGTS describes. During normal driving it feels a lot like the original clutch did plus it grabs more than the TRD USA clutch does.

well I got my TRD clutch, I didn't get to talk to my uncle to see exactly where it came from but it had Japan stamped on the clutch, throwout bearing, and didn't check out the pressure plate..
so is it from TRD Japan???
it would take 2 weeks for TRD USA...
Mine came after three weeks...
just wanna see other opinions..

I'm thinking of upgrading my clutch to something similar soon. What type of budget do you set on the install? That's the thing concerning me more than the price of the clutch. Also how long does it take to get it installed?

Quick warning....TRD Clutch...kiss your warranty goodbye, if the clutch is the source of whatever problem in the future.
You can verify this by calling TRD
all depends on the dealership.. if they wish the honor the warranty or not..

M SPEC, I called around on the prices of installation only (cost of labor) and found it as cheap as $250 and that is w/o a warranty...
AAMCO will do it for $350 w/ 12 months warranty and that is nationwide...called Toyota and they said it would be $571...whew when I heard that, I hung up so I don't know if it is warrantied or not...but the AAMCO way seems the best unless you have a buddy to help you...

Damn, based on the standard time (from the "book", 6 hours) to install a clutch, AAMCO is charging the usual $60/hour of labor.
And Toyota is charging a whopping $95/hour of labor.
I'd check with both parties if their prices include machining the flywheel.

Toyota OFFERED to put one in my car.... I paid for the parts and they took care of the labor since it was all opened up already for the long block changeover and tranny switch...
