ok this is a stupid question but awhile ago (like 3 1/2 months ago) when I had my other celica I put on some $40 eBay coilovers and had them on the lowest drop setting (4") and it only made the car drop like ohhhhhhhhhhh maybe an inch. To this day I am still puzzled why the damn things only dropped the car bearly an inch when I know for a fact they were installed correct and I cut the bump stops in half. Whats up with coilovers! Anybody know why the drop did not exceed more then an inch on a 4" drop setting? I just want to know to ease my mind.

Any pics of the install? Any weird noises from them?

simple answer: crappy generic coilovers with crappy generic springs...solution: find a Civic owner...

no. I dont have that car anymore. Im still bugged by the crappy drop though. What was really strange was when I had the shocks off to install them the shock could not compress anymore then an inch when I would push down on them untill it reached the spring of the coil over.
I dunno.. all I have learned from this is stick with springs and not coil overs

Wrong answer. Stick with proven suspension brands, not no name eBay stuff. Takes more than a spring and some perches to make a coilover (really just adjustable spring) set properly. Lots of tuning goes into it, since all cars are different (even different trim levels). Adjustable springs with good struts can be just as good as real coilovers (tuned, adjustable spring/strut combo), sometimes better.

No the lesson that should be learned is that you should get Real coilovers not some fake wanna be crap. Real coilovers have adj. dampening, spring perches, strus come with them and the threaded section is on the strut, etc. Real coilovers cost at the very least about $800 or so. You did not get coilovers my friend you got what is known as sleeves. Next time try the real deal. Later.

Ground Control and Skunk2 make "real" coilovers (though they're still just adjustable springs). They're tuned specifically for the Celica, unlike those cheap eBay ones, and when paired with Konis, can equal and even outperform some full coilover sets (most likely TRD's ;) ).

Eh, this might be true but I still consdier these sleeves type kits, not the real deal. However, I msut admit that they are a hell of a lot better than some cheap Ebay crap. And according to white01gts I am a liear, TRD is the best coilovers they make, and they supposedly pulled 1.04g's on the skidpad with them on the TRD supercharged celica. Course they had sways, rear strut bar, etc. etc. as well but this is the first have heard of this. Go read my need help post in here LOL, it is quite funny cause dude is calling me a liar straigh-up LMAO. He says I am making this crap up and I have no idea why. Why would I do such a thing. I guess he thinks bashing TRD is my way of life or something.

I agree, the sleeves really are crap, I tried em, they suck, go with either good priced springs an shocks...or go super expensive on coilover kit combos $900+
