Hey guys,
I looked at the springs and found something weird with the Hotchkis springs.
The front sets of Hotchkis coil is TALLER than my TRD front and the Hotchkis rear springs are SHORTER than my TRD rear.....These are before compressing them and installing them on the struts....... unless my TRD drop more than 1.5 front and rear, I dont see why the front is higher and the rear is the same height....!!
Does anyone have any idea ??
Anyone changed out from TRD to Hotchkis before ????
Thanks

I'm guessing the front is higher to allow for more strut travel since most of the weight is there. The rear needs less strut travel since it is lighter back there. As far as comparing them to TRD, it is just how they designed them.

it also has a lot to do with spring rates...which is really the most important factor when it comes to a spring.

i changed from TRD to Hotchkis a couple months ago. Just give them a week or two to settle. They will be a bit lower than the TRDs.

As soon as I put mine on they were the height they specified. If your car is sitting higher than it did with your TRD springs then something is wrong. The Hotchkis springs do not require a settling period, trust me.

Is there a reason WHY it would be higher than TRD or not the height they specified ??
They told me to check the sticker on the springs to see if its the right one. 1988092
and they told me to see if they were upside down.....
I am sure they are not upside down because if wouldnt fit the ring if it was upside down.....
I really need help guys......
Thanks
DopeCelicaGT - were your springs compitition or street ??? I remember one of your post saying your springs were compitition....!

I picked it up stright from Hotchkis's office....
Mark brought it out from the back of the wearhouse..... I went in there too... nice shop......
Back to my problem....
They are Silver like everyone elses.....
and basiclly my front is riding an INCH higher than my TRD.... either my TRD sag to 2 inch drop, else my Hotchkis should be LOWER....!! :furious:

hmm, mine was never at stock height with the hotchkis. when i first put them on, they were about the same height as TRD, the rear might have even been a bit higher. after a couple of weeks, they were just slightly lower than the TRD.
maybe it's a defective set? if it is, maybe try bringing it back to hotchkis and see if they can exchange a set.

If you know the Hotchkis people then take it to them and let them check it out.
