to larryd and all the other administrators/moderators.

I think that turning off the post counts was a good idea. However, it was a nice filtering tools when I read posts. It's hard to keep track of who knows how much, and when there is a post that has 50 replies, it's nice to be able to go to the replies that are meaningful. My suggestion is to implement a user rating system, based on how much the user knows about the celica. Not how funny he is or how long he's been on the board, but how much information and help he can provide to the community. The users would be rated by the moderators and administrators. What do you guys think about that?

Second, i think that off topic should have a moderator. I said that when turning the post count was discussed, i thought it would have been better to just have someone moderate off topic to cut off the whoring. Chumpchiggy has been pretty much moderating it lately anyway, so why not make him the official moderator or someone else who would be reasonable about it?

Just a few thoughts.

i like the idea of user rating but its not feasable becuase then the admins would have to rate over 5000 members and I dont read every post so thats impossible.. i think if you are lookin for info you should read everyones replies and take them all in..usually if someone is incorrect someone else will correct them..

as for moderator of off topic.. i dont want to set one.. just becuz its not supposed to be moderated.. thats the admins duties and if Chiggy wants to do it then he can, but i dont want an official moderator to be set..

I see your point, and i've thought about it. But we're not 5,000 members... we're really not. When you look at things objectively, there are probably only 200-300 regular users that post a lot.

Obviously user ratings would go slowly at first, but once enough users are rated it will only be a matter of rating new ones, and increasing other user's ratings once they gained enough knowledge.

Perhaps you could start a system also that users don't get rated until they're senior members or something like that. I'm sure there are ways of working it through. Not every single user has to be rated either. I don't know.
I'll think about it more, and email you or post my thoughts are in order ;)

As far as off topic goes, you're the boss, even though i think that we're only talking about semantics here. Whether you put a name of a moderator down or not, OT still gets somewhat moderated.

this is my idea if you want to take it under consideration....

i think only registered members should be able to enter

nc.org...just like honda-acura.net...i dont know much about

computers but dont you think that would make the site faster??

well im not worried about site speed.. and unregistered members cant post..only read.. i actually hate that thing where I cant see a post if Im not a registered member.. really deters people from coming to the site..also alot of people dont register for many months after theyve read the board

as for the rating system.. all i can tell you is the idea is great, the time and effort it would take would be incredible wether u believe it or not.. doing any single action on a website atleast 500 times is ALOT of work.. hell i dont even wanna change the smilies legend and theres only 50 of them.. understand??

as for off topic..your right..its only a nomenclature.. i just dont want a physical name in that place though all admins have the ability to moderate off topic..
