Does anyone know the most fuel efficeint speed and RPM shift points? The price gas is now, premium isn't cheap. I want to get the most distance on a tank of gas. I go to school about 90 miles from my house, and have to make trips quite often. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

When I had my really loud exhaust (basically a straight pipe) I wanted to keep the noise down so I shifted at 2500 RPM's and from 5th-6th I shifter after I hit 50 MPH. It was just so loud! On that tank, I got 37 miles to the gallon, I kid you not. I hardly used the AC and kept the windows up. Look for that post about mythbusters somehwere in GD and Blue Bomber tells that he got 40 MPG doing something. Also, port out your stock headers. It is a very good mod that everyone shoul do.

Has anyone got over 500 miles one a 1 tank fill-up? I was at walmart, and this random guy came up to me and started saying - really fast - heymanilikeyourcaritlooksreallynice...ivegotonebut itsincalifornia...ithasabodykitandwheels spentlikefourthousanddollarsinoneweekmywifegotreal lymad....i was like, WHOA buddy, settle down there. He told me his best milage was a little over 500 with some gas to keep going.

dude, I got 37 x 14.5 = over 500. Blue Bomber 40 X 14.5 = 580.

Ok, maybe then i need to either put my stock ecu back in, which i will need to replace my 02 sensor, or do some serious tuning to my pfc. Does anyone know where i can get the datalogic software for pretty cheap?

I got 40mpg once without AC. Try doing that with the AC on. :p:

oh wha??! 14.5 gallons?! damn, i musta read incorrectly awhile back then. Ive always thought our cars had 15 gallon tanks. Completely changes my car's mpg. Crap, and i've been complaining about 23mpg before... damn no wonder. new mpg for my car: 26mpg (both highway and street). Just about right for a GT.

You do know that there is like 1-2 gallon left in the tank even if the gauge is all the way down... The most accurate way to calculate your MPG is to fill up your tank and set your trip meter. Then at your next fill up note the total volume of gas that's needed to fill up the tank. Take the mileage in the trip meter divide it by the number of gallon you just put in your tank.

I did that when i went to W.VA last friday, came to a little over 400mi/tank but i was also driving 90mph almost the entire way with the windows down...

i was thinkin if i just drive between 55-60 mph on the highway on my long trips i should be doing okay...but i like to drive with the windows down, because i dont want to run the AC...living in texas, it gets quite hot with the windows up. does the drag affect mpg that much? my guess is the drag doesnt take up as much gas as running the AC. even just having the vents running doesnt cool it down any.

Well, that mythbusters thing was done with a ford explorer right? Now is that a v6 or a v8 explorer? I would think that on a 4cyl car, you would need to use more gas to get going and power the ac than a v8 does, so i wouldnt think that test applies to all cars.

Someone dynoed a GT-S with and without AC. 18whp loss. That's over 10% of the engine's power.

i get like 40 mpg when im not trying to save gas, just cruising on the highway with turbo kit :)

Ok well I only stomp on it about 2 times a week and I only put down like 30 MPG on my 6 speed. What am I doing wrong. Is there a common part that leads to reduced fuel efficiancy. Even when I drive nice my best is only 32.8.

I get a solid 40mpg out of my 5 speed GT. 120 mile daily 99.5% highway commute at 75-80mph. Don't see much difference in using A/C vs having the window down at all.

I usually fill the tank around 440 miles. Haven't pulled a Kramer and tried to run it empty...

400miles per full tank is pretty dang awesome, considering I hardly ever break 390miles. What are you guys' specs? Wheel size, mods, etc?
