Illegal tint???? where can i get a good deal next?

well... i tryed to register my car today, but it seems that my tint is illegal according to Hawaii. Mine is 17% according to the tint meter..lol.. but i was wanting to know if someone knew of a place that might could "pass" me instead of having my tint removed then installed OR a place that doesn't charge an arm and a leg to remove and install..i got a quote for 75 to remove and 149 to re install 35%.... also, does anyone know where i can get it installed lower than 35%...... let me know :headbang: :gap:

You can't pass, period. You will have to pay for removal &/or new tint. The cops will spot your car immediately and go after you. Then they'll nail you with recon for your other mods. Don't give them any excuses - have the tint removed and apply a legal tint later on.

you'd have to have really good connections to get stuff like that passed. or family who'll do it for u. seeing as your new to the islands, just go legal.

5% usually costs more.
the layer over layer thing is still illegal.
If you need tint for your new car let me know, my friend can hook you up.
He does all my cars, you dont have to go as dark as mine if you dont want to, he does legal kine to.....lol

I don't know about 5% being cheaper. But it is illegal to have darker than 35% on cars and trucks, vans, and SUV's front wondows. It's not how you tint the car, it's how the light meter reads the the light passing through the tint.

take the tint off yourself. it's pretty easy... i did my accord myself.

Unless you have connections it would be hard to pass safety check with illegal tint. If I were you just get 35% tint. That way you don't have to worry about finding someone to pass you for safety check every year and you won't have to worry about cops.

thanks everybody!!!! i checked after i started this and my homeboy on base said he could get me hooked up, but don't know if i can do this every year... kind of a pain and plus ive heard that when they ticket you per window, it's like $100 or more.... crazy.... this is kind of jacked up for me because i have a lot of mods and don't want to be the subject of some ******* cop having a bad day and doing me good..... but hey Cr-xrs... let me know how much to do an 01 celica with 35% :gayfight: :rolleyes: ...... or you can pm me with your number so we could hook up this weekend sometime.... im rolling on the cruise sunday, so we could meet up

The fine for illegal tint is $500 PER Window. You might get away w/ it for little while but when you do finally get caught the fine is gonna HURT! Not only will you have to waste your time going to court, you will have to pay the fine that could be $2500 AND you will have to pay to have it removed.

i got mines done at al's. they did a really good job and it's warrantied not to bubble or turn purple for life. awesome =) that's if you get the true gray and pay like 150 for it. i think it was 150 maybe more..

^^^yeah... i have llumanar and paid at the time like 140 for job i got and it was lifetime warranty.... what is the percentage on yours??

sorry dude, your on your own for removal, he doesnt like to do it.
Its super easy though, just peel it off with a razor blade, then spray it with simple green, and wipe it with a paper towel, shouldnt take to long.

Yup, I got mine done at Al's and i talked to the owner while i was waiting. He has had alot of business fm people that were busted and they were fined $500 a window.

I have the legal tint, well actually mine is a little less. I have beige leather and the seats are never hot. I guess it helps to have a white car too.

just rub it in my face! i wish my car was white...... white cars are hot. i still need to get that uv tint thing from Al's.. i'll see if i decide to keep the celica.. i might shell out the 240 bucks to do it.. or 200 something =P i forgot how much.. only front window too =( so expensive.
