Ok, the stock spoiler on my 2000 gts has been slightly loose since i got it in jan of 04. yesterday, my friend was being stupid and hung of the back of my car, makin it REALLY loose. I can pull it back to the point when i look i can see the bolts attaching the spoiler ot the trunk. Now, the body repair guy says that it's that the nuts holding the bolts down came off and they're now sittin above that plastic cover on the underside of the trunk lid and it'll cost about $25 bucks to get the plastic off and put the bolts back on. Now, i really want to do it because if it's something that i can do myself and it'll save me money, then i'll do it. All i need to know is where all the screws and stuff like that are that are holding the the plastic cover to the underside of the trunk lid. thanks for all the info.

There's only one screw, where the inside trunk handle is, the rest is all clips. As for the bolts holding the spoiler in place, good luck, they might be gone for good, it's a PITA to get them out once they fall inside the hatch.

I got mine out using a telescopic magnetic pickup tool.

Just a warning. When you take off the big plastic peice some of the clips will stick to the inside of the hatch. Getting those stuck peices out of the hatch so you can reattach them to the plastic is the absolute worst part of doing it.

yeah same here. i dropped a bunch of screws in there before, and although it was a little bit of a hassle, i was able to get em all out.

strangely enough i had the exact same thing happen to me. Well except for my friend hanging onto my spoiler, but after closing my trunk i heard my spoiler rattle and sure enough the whole left side has about 3cm of play.

I found a really great way to deal with this. Get a pair of needle nose pliers and a rag. Use the rag to protect the body of the car and then just pry the body clips out. I had to do this because the stupid body shop I went to left one of the plugs unattached to the plastic GRRRRR.
That same body shop also left 3 of the 4 bolts rattling around in my hatch panel. I was back the next day to have them removed. What a pain. I was also unlucky enough to lose a screw in the hatch panel. I knew approximately where it was so I kept tapping the hatch panel with a magent (covered in a thin cloth) until I was able to get the screw out.

yea, that is a pain. I think the best way to remove the bolts without dropin them inside is by using a 10mm deep socket, have the hatch slightly open (flat), loosen, and then slowly bring down the bolt while its sitting on top of the socket.. haha! good luck!!
