Stock HIDs????

Hey guys whats up? I just purchased a blue 04 GTS. from what I have read and on my options print out, the 04 GTS came with HID projectors. is that correct? I have been looking for the stock ignitor and ballast and can't find them anywhere in the engine bay. autozone confirms that the 04 GTS uses HID d2S bulbs for the low beams. my actual question is that if I want to upgrade to a 5000k bulb can I just purchase the bulb? or should I get the whole kit (ballast, ignitor, and bulbs). thanks guys.

if you already have the hid option, then you can just change d2s bulbs, you dont' need to change all of the other stuff. but really, why would you want to do that, when the stock hids has the best output, and looks great already. you don't want something so blue that it looks fake. keep your stock hids.

you should know if you have HIDs..the difference is like day and night compared to halogens. BTW..the ballests are usually located under the headlight..pull off you head light if you want to check them out.

well honestly this is the first car that I have owned with HID. I looked today and noticed the very nice z cutoff. I know that the stock bulbs have the highest lumens but I just want it to have a little more color to it. thanks a gain for your help. I will look under the headlight for the balast today to confirm.

Just remember that the more color you have in a bulb's light, the less light it will put onto the road.

You won't see anything if you just look under the headlights because there is an ballast cover on the bottom of the headlights protecting it from water, dirt, and etc. You have to literally take the headlights out then unscrew the ballast cover inorder to see it.

Or you could look to your lower left inside your car, if you have HID's you'll have a "load" leveling switch to adjust your beam up/down to comphensate for extra passengers ect.
