Ok. Here is the story, I was driving in very bad stop and go traffic down in chicago. All of a sudden my CEL turns on... The engine didn't change sounds or anything. But I notices a strange noise when I start the car. The CEL light turned off one day but the next day came back on. Any help would be appreciated. I'll try reseting the ECU by the battery or the fuses.

if you don't have any mods that may have caused the CEL take it to the dealer and have them look at what error code is being reported by the ECU. The CEL comes on because there is a problem, not to annoy you. Resetting the ecu won't make the problem go away.

Yah, you should get it checked out ASAP.

do you turn your car off while filling up with gas? is your gas cap on tight?

the cel shouldnt turn off by itself.. i think in all cases it needs to be reset.. you might have a problem with the actual wires...

Yes I do turn my car off when I fill up, and the cap is tights. I'll try to reset it and see what happens. If no success I'll go to the dealer. Do I have to go to the dealer where I bought the car. Or can I go to a different dealer that is closer to my college?

DUDE! Honestly..get it checked out. The CEL shouldnt come on at all..you have no mods whatsoever. Get it checked out before something major happens.

Got it fixed, the dealer told me that the code it showed tells them that the engine was recieving too much air or the fuel tank was very close to empty when I was driving. I wonder why the ecu is so sensetive to things like that. All I wanted to do was to see how far I can go without filling up. It was 400+ miles. From now on I will fill up at quarter tank. Point taken, lesson learned. :)

don't let your tank get so low next time all you do by running it down so low is suck up all that junk in your fuel tank into your motor...

That's funny that, that would cause a CEL I am lucky I ran my car to 430 miles once I had no lines of Gas left I was just wanting to get to the gas station by my Sisters house before filling up because it was like 10 cents a gallon cheaper.
