View Full Version : Gauge Cluster Millage....

Okay im going to be rebuilding my engine sometime soon and i would want to make my gauge cluster go back to 0miles. I know how to do this with the old fashion roler, but not with the electronic one....

Now i dont want to go to toyota and buy a brand new one nor do i want to keep it at 20,000 which its near almost now. How does do you make this thing work ? i don't want to start messing aroud with it and then breaking it... :wtc:

Good luck since thats illegal. When you sell it, people will want to know what miles everything on the car has been through. Not just the miles since a rebuilt engine.

how bout you just remember to take 20k off the total odo when you record things...beats trying something illegal

i hate how ppl want to preach about what is good and wat is not , when in fact alot of the mods ppl do to there cars are not popo friendly. Its not like im asking on how to hot wire a toyta celica.

You might as well be asking that.



Anyways, you do know that there are two trip counters in addition to the odometer, right? Why not use one of those. I use one for my oil change interval, and one for the tranny oil.


If you want the cluster to read 0, you will have to buy a brand spanking new cluster $$$.

There are ways to reset it to 0, but no one will tell you how to do so.

i guess ill pop open the silver thing and i guess there is battery in it... So it must like computer bios you take out the battery for alittle and its all gone...

so is there a battery in the silver thing? that connects to the board?

Beats me, just make sure you don't break the LCD screen or whatever is below it.

There's no battery in it. I've taken that apart to change the LEDs and there isn't one in there. Good luck finding out how to change it though... I'm sure it's not easy.
