Now since I have it, I might as well put it to use. Right now my entire cars sound system is stock (except for infinity door speakers). Now since I have an amp, what else would I need to buy in order to get a little more bass? I'm a really poor college student so I'm looking to spend very, very little. I'm not looking to make a great sound system, I just want to add some bass now.

My friend told me that I would now need to just buy one 12" sub and the wiring. Is that it? Are there any certain subs I should get? I don't know anything about sound systems.

i got an entire "system" for 100 bucks.

-10 bucks for the speaker on Ebay - 10" MTX 6000. it gets the job done if you dont want a TON of bass. its really clean too.

-100 bucks for an xplod amp. dont get an xplod amp. i like their headunits, but the amp cuts out everytime i get any bass at all for 30 seconds or more.

-free wood to make a box

-$30 for wiring kit at walmart.

-$10 for carpet for my homemade box.

overall it sounds great for near $150. now i just need to get it in my 7th gen....

You might also need a capacitor; a couple weeks ago my I a 12" Alpine Type R sub and they said I needed it (and I know these guys, they wouldn't lie to me).

you dont need a cap..its just to keep the strain off the battery...if your system keeps cuttin your car lights or make them dim then get a new battery...also look into ground wires..helps with the electrical part of the car i.e. windows, lights, system...with just an amp you just need speaker wire, amp kit, and a sub..wal-mart has bazooka subs and they are pretty good imo..i had 2 bazooka 12's and they rattle the ride..just make sure your amp can handle the wattage of the subs...my theory on subs are 10s make the music sound better overall and 12's are for when you want to be heard down the street..i got one 12 inch infinity and that mofo is great..you can hear me down the street! hope that helped a little..

In my opinon i wouldnt mess with a sub unless you get a aftermarket headunit with a sub outlet atleast, otherwise you will have to mess with speaker level inputs and you cant filter the speakers and you will blow them. Golden rule of sound systems, "you wanna play, you gotta pay." you really do get what you paid for. Buy a reasonable head unit with preamp outputs and a crossover filter control. that will sound better by itself, and then buy a 12" sub and wires and you can use the crossover to send all the bass to the sub and keep it out of the speakers. Thus saving your speakers from a blowout, plus you can go hella loud without distortion. :scared:

eh...before you do all that, research the model of your "350W" amp. find out the RMS wattage before you select a sub... i highly doubt that amp is 350 RMS, even bridged....
