well I am slightly considering this, anyone done it in a celica? I'm assuming that this would be a whole day worth of work. I'm just looking for some comments on its funtionality and how much is involved for instalation.

well first off do you have a monitor already mounted in your car?
2nd off... wtf is the point? other than nobody has done it.... unless you've blocked the rear view... it has no purpose.... why don't you consider a wireless cam.... then you could point it anywhere...

yah its been done.. it was on a spec blue celica.. but i have no clue who it was.. the visible camera lense was about the size of a quarter and was right in the middle of the bumper but it still looked ok being that the car was spec blue. i have no idea how much those cameras cost.. but if they're cheap, have good video output and you already have a screen in your car, then its cool. if not.. then i would rather spend the money on a dvd player or something
$65 here: http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?category=135&item=VC-20&type=store
& you can probably find cheaper

I have done this on my Celica....
u actually can place the camera in the rear key hole ( I don't ever use the rear key hole anyway)
It sit flush with the camera I got, it was a sylvania spy camera, I got it at Fry's Electronic.. for about $25...
It has an adaptor for battery powering... but I just use the DC covertor....
Picture is clear but u have to play with the lense and with the camera i got, it came with two lense, 45 deg & 90 deg...
pretty cool.. but it get old...
I mount it in the front under the license plate area, when I go cruising...

Forget just a cameria, Put in like night vision or an Infrared camera, that way, it wouldnt even need to be light.

I use my rear view for backing up..granted its hooked into my DVD player. But a solo camera system i don't know about that, Satoshi did it though and it was nice.
