I was just looking through some old magz and found a picture of the celica 2000 convertible. how much u guys think it would cost to get that done? and where would u go to get it? I was thinking it would cost 5-10,000. If its only 5 I would seriously think about that..:D

think about how sh1tty the wind noise / structural stablity / aerodynamics are gonna work... it you want a convertible ... sell your celi and put the 5K to getting an s2000

Yeah, an MR2 spyder would be cool. If they were out when I got my Celica, I would have gotten the MR2 instead.
I think that you could get that done for that price range. Having it done for $5000 sounds a little ambitious, but maybe it could be done for that price. You should make some phone calls and find out. You would be the only person with a convertable Celica, thats for sure! ;)
yeah... I would have gone for the mr2 but umm
I'm 17... and I didn't want an insurance payment
that is larger than my car payment :gap:

I should call my insurance company to find out what it would be on a new MR2. If it were really high to the point that I couldn't really afford or justify it, it would make me feel a lot better, LOL!
Actually, though, I doubt that the insurance would be very high. Whenever I see an MR2 driving around in my area(which is hardly ever, they are very rare here), the person driving it is usually in their 40's or older. Since it's so small and impractical to be used as your primary vehical, I think that most MR2 sales will be made to older, more finacially stable people who buy it as a 2nd vehical/fun summer toy. If the majority of the owners are older/more responsable, the insurance will be lower, because insurance prices are determined by the amount of claims a car gets, not by it's performance.
A member of this site recently traded their Celica in for a 250hp Prowler. I jokeingly asked him what the insurance was on it, thinking that it would be really pricey, and it turns out that it was $7 a month less than his Celica! It was less because not many Prowler owners drive irresponsably and get into accidents.
Less Celica owners need to make insurance claims so my premium will go down!

I think that the Celica makes a pretty good looking convertable. :)

the celica convertible is GROSS. I mean, even with the top down its ugly... I mean, the S2000 looks beautiful with the top down...but with the top up, i think it looks horrible. I could just imagine how ugly the celica would look with the top up.

NO, don't listen to them Strider01, a convertable Celica would be unique.
Plus, who cares if these guys don't like convertables. Girls like convertables. :D

I agree that picture looks horrible but i saw a concept celica convertible at the chicago auto show a couple years ago and it looked much better.

I would never get a convertible unless it's built from the ground up as a convertible like the s2000, Corvette, or MR2 spyder.

Like the regular car, it needs a spoiler. I think T-tops would be better, though. :)

I like that Silver Celica Convertible!!!!
A targa top would probably look nice. And that spoiler on the silver celica definitely adds something that's visually more appealing than the blue celica. What do you guys think of a retractable hard top like one of the bmw's ?

a body kit on that convertible celica would make it 100x better. and it definately needs the wing :)

I think another reason the silver one looks better than the blue is because of the lens distortion on the cameras their pics were taken with. The blue one looks like it has a humungous front end. The silver one's proportions are even.

hey a convertible would be a bit lighter.
but you also need a difrent trunk.
but with all that trunk space compaired to the mr2 spyder, there would be room for a hard shell top.

lol, I just noticed that. The wheels are spining, the background is blurry, but theres no driver! And it looks like the driver side airbag is also out....

i think toyota should make it. much more sales like the mitsubishi offering the convertible for the eclipse. All the ladies would buy the celica convertible! Then we can take a stare at them as they pass by causing an accident:chuckles:
i think the convertible celica looks great. way better than an s2000 IMHO.
