Fake badging stupidity

Just thought I'd share this little encounter last night. I'm following my wife home from the store, and she pulls around to pass this slower moving car. As we pass this vehicle, I look over to see a Civic (LX or DX) with an exhaust, blue tinted headlights, and a big "Civic Type R" across the middle of the rear bumper. As I started to creep by, the guy starts to speed up, but there was slower traffic in front of him, and he wasn't going anywhere. I simply pulled even with him, shook my head, and continued past. What a stupid looking car. Does he really think he's fooling anyone with his stickered POS?

Well, coincidentally I saw a black Celica yesterday with the black Yangston tails and he pulled up next to me. We talked about mods. I'd never seen the guy before and told him about this website, he had never heard about it. Maybe he'll come on line. Anyway, his ride was ok looking, a little rice, but then he went in front of me and I saw the dreaded "GT-R" badge!!!!!! OMG!!!
It was the GT emblem and below it was the "R" in red! It was sooo wrong!

I've seen alot of stickered crx SIR's around lately
whats the deal with idiots today anyway? stickers will make your car cool and fast even if its a rusting hunk of crap with mis matched fenders???

theres a guy that lives near me, with a black late 90's-early 00's accord v6 2 door, with exhaust, rims. and the classic type-r badge next to the accord badge. car looks ok, needs a drop, cause the 18's make it look like its ready for and off road rally. plus the thing is the v6's only come in auto, every type-r (real type-r) is a manual... and he drives slow...

Yeah I seen a a GTS (automatic I believe) with a nice GTR badge near the window, it was kinda gay looking. If it makes you feel any better Yakko, I have my trunk completly debadged, and even the Toyota emblem/grill on the hood taken off. And no I dont drive a GT, I drive a GTS

I like the Type R and SiR stickers on NoN Hatchbacks. There are plenty of true SiR's here in So Cal I had one so did a few of my friends but dont god arent they affraid people will know they are posing. I also pulled up to a fellow and his g.f a few months ago on a Teg. We chatted he had Type R stickers. His g.f was all proud shes like "Yeah my man has a Type R better than your GT!" I told her "Thats awesome I've never seen an Integra Type R with 4 bolts on the wheels!" The guy screached off. =0)

I don't know if you've seen it but in the Super Street Magazine May Edition, they already have an Accord Type R in Japan. I've already seen some badges that they are selling, I guess most of the Honda cars have a type R badges :chuckles:

Civic Type R
Integra Type R
Prelude Type R
Accord Type R
and CRV Type R

the only thing that's not Type R's are the Passport and the Hybrid :rofl: :chuckles:

I agree. They need attention. The same could be said for anyone trying to make their car "look fast." Body kits, wheels, etc. They are obviously just looking for attention.

That's not a bad look. I'm not crazy about the stickers on the side of my car, but they don't bother me enough that I'll mess with taking them off. I'll put no sticker on my car that the factory didn't though. Except, the parking sticker for work.

The stories here are showing that the problem is also common for other car groups too. Some Hondas at least have VTEC. Haven't found a Ford that does...

The engine and suspension are only part of the story. Full fledged Type Rs are that way from the beginning at the plant.

i wouldnt necessarily say "look fast". perhaps look different. i wouldnt necessarily link it to insecurity either.
i think the impulse has the same roots as anyone else modifying their car. some people just have more money. do you think the same people would plaster sticker on their car if you give them more money? ..hell when i was little i'd get stickers from inside a cereal box and i didnt know what to do with, but i wanted to use it, so i'd stick it on a notebook or my desk. same thing. some people mite do it as a joke (vtec on a ford).

I don't think it is either. I'm by no means some big VTEC fan. My point was that you find Fords with VTEC stickers. Kind of like finding a Honda with a Duratec sticker. How many of those have you seen? At least the non-VTEC Hondas with VTEC stickers are more correct than the Fords. That was my point. Maybe the Honda has an engine swap. I doubt someone really got VTEC in a Ford.

honestly, other than a picture on the internet of a 5.0 with honda emblem and vtec badge, i havent seen any fords with the vtec sticker on it..then again, the location that im around is nothign but a bunch of mustang guys who hate the honda riceboy crowd, so..
