View Full Version : Distribution block for gauges and such???

I was wondering about something......

I know that a lot of custom stereo companies use distribution blocks coming off of the battery to power several amps in a system. Is there any way a distribution block could be set up for wiring gauges?? Most of the stereo blocks use like 8 - 10 gauge wire. I was thinking something that a 14 gauge wire could be wired into.

like if someone did a 3 gauge pillar......rather than having to run all of the power lines and make multiple taps they could just wire it neatly into one of the ports on a grounded distribution block specially set to feed to 14 gauge wire like in the gauges and footwell neons, etc......

you could run the power to the block, ground the neg. wire of the gauge like normal, and then run whatever hookups you needed to in order to get the gauge to serve its function....like and A/F gauge to one of the O2 wires.....

Of course you would still run your in line fuses properly but I just figured it would neaten things up and require less splicing time and potentially cut wires.....

I haven't found anything like this but I'm sure its out there somewhere....does anyone have any ideas??? I was thinking about doing a full pillar soon and was really hoping to (excuse the pun) cut down some of the wiring and splicing....

I called and checked them out......all it seems to be is a relay hub....... what I am looking for is something that I can run power to and ground and just hookup the power wires from the gauges to without having to splice for power multiple times

Just jumper them together in the pod, thats how mine are set up. I ran the powers together and the neg's together on spade disconnects, so I can remove the pod if I need to. So coming out of the gauge pod is 2 wires for power plus one for the a/f gauge

Oh... I thought you wanted to run the leads for each sensor... as well as power. (2) 14 ga. wires (1) POS (1) NEG... run to the pod should be fine... and splice in the pod. The gauges shouldn't pull that much current at all. You can also tie the backlights... if there are any... into the dimmer ckt.
