Hey.. for the people who installed aftermarket component speakers in the front... what brand did u use and how does it fit and sound? I'm interested in getting a new pair of component speakers but I wanna find speakers with the best fit/sound. Thanks..

If you have money buy some focals. Easy to install. The mid woofer goes into the orginal 6" whole. You can rip off the stock tweeter and glue on the new one. Then you just have to find a spot for the cross-over and hook everything up. You can go to cartoys or something and ask to hear different speakers. Choose the ones you like.

I have Polk Audio Momo components and i am happy with them. Installed easy just like described above. Not too exspensive either.

I've got all Alpine speakers and amps, and truly could not be happier about the sound quality. Alpine's just perfect with all Alpine systems. Not the most economical choice, however. My whole setup (including my head unit) was around $5000. That's for a flip-out tv/dvd/navi, 2 type r subs, 1 1000w rms mono amp, 1 450w 5 channel amp, 2 component sets, a 5 1/4" coaxial set, optima yellowtop battery, 2 farad cap, and all the wiring and such. But very good fitment, and the tweeters screw in where the stock ones are mounted. VERY easy install

I just bought a pair of Alpine component (type R's) and coaxials for a cheap price...gonna install them soon..will update once its all done. Also bought me a 5 channel amp to run 50w RMS into each speaker...hope thats enough..im not into competition or anything just want to hear clean treble and clean bass. OHH btw..u guys recommend monster cable?

5 channel is cool, you get to power all speakers and a sub, easy hook up!!! and i recommend monster cables over others especially rockford. if you compare the two, monster is actually thicker even with the same gauge...

I'll put my vote in for CDT Audio speakers. They're not quite as popular as other name brands, but only because they're not really sold in shops. I had a set of 6.5" components for them in the front of my old car and I'm so glad I can now transfer them over to my Celica. I'm so happy with them I bought another set of tweeters for the fronts (a special "Upstage" set they sell) as well as coaxials to go in the back. I definitely recommend looking into them. Good prices, too.
