Hi everyone, I got my new 2002 GTS a little less than a month ago, and I have noticed that the driver mirror shakes a little on rough roads (like a vibration shake)... but when I look over at the passenger mirror, it looks ok, from what I can tell.

I was going to have toyota look at it when they do my first oil change.

My question, is this normal?

Thanks!!!!!!!

Yep, mine does the same thing. The sunroof rattling and the tensioner squeaking is whats pissing me off though. Been to busy latley to get it in to toyota though. Already took it in 3 times for the tensioner but it never does it when they have the car. The day after I get it back it will start doing it again. Bout to run it off a cliff. LOL

No way, not since you became the vinyl king, from now on you support me. I'll start with a new trubo so I can get a real BOV. :chuckles:

PS - I truthfully do not have the vibration in the mirror.

Doesn't all car do that?
I have noticed this when i was in the following cars:

1.) My celica when I have my bass too loud.
2.) My mom's caravan....no bass, but on rough road
3.) My dad's 4Runner.....when offroading/freeway
4.) Corrolla ..... with music on
5.) SLK ......going over bumps
6.) Camaro Z28 .......with bass on
7.) Interga ........freeway
8.) Talon TSI & ESI ........ with system

therefore, I THINK all or most cars do that...... :D :D :D :D

Ya, I think I notice it the most when the stereo is turned up. Maybe some dynamat in the doors would help.

Thanks everyone! I love this board!

FYI -

Took the car in, and asked them about the mirror. Toyota told me it's because of the moon roof! He said the supras had a similar problem. The structure of the car is reduced or something. Oh well, it's not that bad I guess.

Thanks all!

Having a moonroof does reduce the structural strength of your car, but it shouldn't cause your side mirrors to shake.

What was wrong with your mirror GT2000? So when you had your mirror replaced, did it stop the vibration?

Thanks!

i replaced my driver side mirror about two months ago....under warranty....noticed a big difference from before.....they had to replace the whole assembly...not just the mirror....so if you guys have scrapes or damage on your housing...it will be replaced!!!!
but i kind of noticed the driver side window doesn't go up as fast as before.....they had to take out the door panel to do it...they tried spraying the area with the silicon crap bit still didn't improve... oh yeah make sure your power locks are working after they finish, because mine wouldn't lock, so i took it back and it was fixed

Yeah, mine vibrates all the time, especially when I have the bass up on the stereo. Doesn't bother me that much since I don't use the side mirrors that much since I don't trust them.

Yeah, mine started the vibrating or rather slight shaking when i go past 65mph, and when the stereo is turned up.

i think all cars do that. I notice when my sterio is up my mirror vibrates a bit, but the passenger side doesnt. Every car i have been in does the same thing, including my first car.

really, i dont know whats up with the new celica, mine does the same thing, not only this problem i encountered on my car.
1. i know i dont have a heavy feet on the clutch but sometimes i could smell the damn thing slippin.
2. the seal on the small rear window on both sides are commin apart, i have to buy an adhesive s_h_i_t to put it back on...
and i just have this car since May 02

Does anyone with a 7Gen Celica that does NOT have a moon roof have the driver side mirror vibration issue????

Has anyone tried to adjust the bolt adjuster in the mirror?

Thanks!

JDRSpeed, I had my rear hatch window molding replaced as it was dimpling out. They had to replace the whole window.

The moon roof excuse sounds like dealer BS to me!
I have a moon roof and my mirrors are rock stable under all conditions......even with my sys turned up! :)

Not sure about this, but isn't the passenger side mirror made with a wider viewing angle than the driver's side? If so, that's why you notice the driver's side vibrating a lot more than the passenger. Kinda like zooming in on a digital camera and shaking it around, then zooming out and trying again. Both mirrors are actually vibrating, but it's an optical illusion that one is vibrating more than the other.

Or, I could be completely wrong.

I've found that adding stick-on Wheel weight(s) on the back of the mirror glass helps with the vibration.

Matter of fact it was a TSB for Saab mirrors.

Toy Rolla,

Do you know how to get access to the back of the mirror on the 7 Gen Celica? I may try that.

Honestly I've never removed one. I think if you move the mirror to the exteme one way, You'll be able to get the wieght on behind it.

Also, if you are able to get the mirror tilted all the way out, You should see how its fastened inside.
