im debating weather or not to get a lower quality wireless detector or a escort 8500, the only problem with the 8500 is that i cant imagine it looking decent with that fat wire, how are you guys wiring your radar detectors?.?

I mounted my radar detector on the dash right in the middle, ran the wiring behind the center consol. I bought one of those window lock switches that we have to the left of the steering wheel and painted it black. Put the switch right next to the window switch, that way I can turn it off if I ever need to just by pushing the button.

Go V1 or go home. Search the forums.
It's quite easy to "hard-wire" them per say - if you want to hide the wiring (without actually hardwiring them). It's easier to remove your passenger side A-pillar plastic and snake the wiring through there, down the "hole" in the dash to the floor and along the plastics to the console area.

Don't speed and you wont need to spend money on a radar detector or hide any wiring.

why buy those things? Majority of the cops use lasers nowadays. Next new thing is a visual "radar". basically like taking a picture of your car at one certain time and taking another at another plotted point then calculate your speed using those information.

Majority? The only cops I've seen with lasers are motorcycles/traffic divisions, and even then, lasers are rare (well, except in Orange County). Police cruisers (and especially state troopers) for the most part are still equipped with K or Ka band radar.

I have this one. It has been almost two years and I have never had a problem and no tickets. Cheap but effective wireless radar/laser system that cannot be detected by radar detector detectors.

Laser guns cost 3x as much as radar. Orange county cops are...well...rich. :chuckles:
Orange county cops are...well...rich. :chuckles:
Nah... they are just fiscally responsible & understand that they need to write more tickets to afford them....
In certain areas .... speeding tickets are considered revenue stream ;-)

i wouldnt say just being rich... i think its because they have to fight the huge amount of street racing. all too often, i see small memorials on street corners of causalties. like that one accident in front of the Boys and Girls Club on Brookhust and Heil. that memorials been there for about half a year already. Its sad... for both families and sport car enthuistist (that dont do that sh*t on public streets).
... in conclusion... OC cops are rich and fat.
