For those who are interested... my shop can get 5 carbing oil catch can for $130usd each, plus shipping... The can is very light and package is small, so shipping won't cost much.

However, for the $130usd price to stand i need 5 buyers.

Is this a neccessary item to have? Can you provide a brief summary of what it does? Thanks.

When would you need the money by?

I'll do a full write up tonight when i get home from work. Once the list of 5 people is full, then i will need the money. As of now, the shop got 2 cans instock but it will take only 1 to 2 weeks for them to get it in. Then they can ship them to you directly with invoices...etc

I ran a few search online and here are all the review about what an oil catch can do.

Is it a must? not really, because if the car requires it toyota would put one in from the factory...But it is a good thing to have if you want to keep your engine clean and run smoother in the long term especially for the F/I guy.

Why is needed???

There is already a write up on nc.org about oil catch can and install guide. Infact, that guide is what lead me to buying one myself. However, I choose the carbing one is because the size is very compact (our car will never fill that can up with oil) and install is easier than the cusco one.

"Supercharged engines are prone to accumulation of an oil sludge mixture forming inside the intake tract. This is a result of crankcase pressure and inefficient combustion. While this condition is normal it is a hindrance to making higher horsepower and increasing engine longevity.

Oil vapor is forced out of the cylinder head and redirected through vacuum hoses into the intake stream. The oil vapor then condenses onto the inside surfaces in the intake system. This is especially prominent in the intercooler core. A thin film of oil coating the inside of the intercooler will insulate the air to air exchange and lower the ability of the intercooler to cool the intake air charge.

The oil catch can will hold this oily byproduct while removing it from suspension in the intake air stream. Horsepower is increased by eliminating the engines current requirement to try and reburn this relatively noncombustible oil. Engine longevity is lengthen due to this oil not having the ability to gum up the valve train, supercharger, and various other moving parts and sensors. Intercooler efficiency is also increased.

Valuable for daily driven street cars but truly a must have for track cars and those cars with our high boost supercharger pulley. Easy to clean, empty and maintain. A built in fluid site gauge will visually show when to empty the catch can. "

"This oil catch can is a nice solution for catching those blow-by gasses that can create carbon and oil sludge build-up in your intake system."

"the goal of an oil catch can is to help the engine by replacing the pipe that vents the crankcase to the air intake. that pipe allows grimey air to be mixed with your air and fuel and then burns it up in the combustion cycle thus greatly reducing the polouting that a car causes and also cooling the engine by using the intake's sucktion to pull the hot air off of the head. the catch can allows the suction to pull the air off the engine while cooling that air and catching the oil and grim in that air to allow for a more effective charge of air and fuel and less dirt build up in the intake. the tube on the side shows you how full it gets with oil over time so you can dispose of it properly with out having it go through the intake, engine and exhaust. "

"Most people won't experience this much oil loss, but no matter how you drive, oil will definately get into the intake via the factory PCV system. There have been inline filter setups, but the filters fill up rather quickly and the soaked filters hinder the vacuum required to keep the PCV system functioning correctly. The oil catch can will collect the oil removing it from the system.

There are a few side affects to leaving the factory setup as it is:

Oil gets into the intake manifold
Oil gets burned in the cylinder causing detonation and knock retard (costing HP)
Spark plugs get fouled from burning oil and become less effective (costing HP)
Emissions go up due to burning oil
The only good reason to NOT upgrade the PCV system is to retain the factory warranty. This kit is completely removabe and does not require modification to the stock lines OF ANY KIND. You can run this kit and remove it when you go to the dealership and there will be zero evidence. "

C-ONE underpanel, C-ONE rear 3-point strut bar, and C-ONE underbrace. As you can see, I'll be quite broke afterwards. :faint:

Thanks Hoan. By next summer, if all goes as planned, I should have a new kit on the car as well. And as you can imagine, it will be JDM. ;)

You need a new sig! :D
