Auto to Manual Transmission Swap

Hi, I own a 2001 Celica GTS Automatic. I recently purchased a 6-Speed Transmission, I was wondering if anyone know anywhere in the Tri-State area that will do the Convertion or swapping of trans.

I hate to be the a-hole who points this out...but...you really should just trade your car in for a 6 speed...the cost of installing that tranny (plus the purchase price you already paid for it) will be more than just trading your car in for a brand new one. You are looking at several thousands of dollars in labor alone.

he's right, it's going to be expensive to install (expect $75-100 an hour for labor costs) and as always, there most likely will be problems since it wasnt assembly-line installed to begin with

I know the expenses that it will take, Believe me that was my suggestion to the person who own the car. But she would not allow me to trade the car in. So do you people know any places that could do it? PapiChuu do you have a number for aamco or can you tell me where it is located?

theres aamcos all over the place the only one i know of is in north plainfield, check the yellow pages

I traded my GT-S auto in for a 6-speed. It cost me $2000 more, but I got a better warranty and 10,000 less miles. Not a bad deal overall. That was at a Toyota dealer.

I've never done that type of conversion but I'm guessing Aamaco is not the place to go. You are going to need someone to do some custom fabrication work, clutch etc. IMHO

you are looking at a total nightmare...sell the trans and trade the car.
