Need the COMPLETE Optima battery number to get one, not just the D34 but what comes after that. I can either get the yellow top or blue or the red but need the exact match for my 01 GTS...autozone does not show anything for my car on the optimas...My OEM battery is dead, I need to get one ASAP. Please Help, thanks

got the yellow one and knew right off the bat that I would have issues with the reversed terminals on the battery, quite a struggle to stretch the positive and negative wires to reach it....hopefully, this will not cause chaffed wires down the road...

You need the D35
most sites don't list it, but it's perfect for the celica

hmmm, D35??? Is that yellow top??? Autozone only had D34 but if the D35 has the terminals oriented the same way as the OEM battery, then I will return the D34 and shop for a D35, Is that the case (with the terminals)????

Yes, it has the terminals like OEM.
It really fits perfect in the batterytray.
It's only about an inch lower so you have to use the fill-up thing or make new threaded pins to hold the battery down

great, I will get one then. I usually use a couple of spacers on the clamps like bolts and that makes it nice and tight.

I checked to order it but it seems that the D35 has the same issue with the inversed terminals from the pics I looked at. It shows the positive terminal on the driver side of the battery and I need it on the passenger side.

The RED top optima 35 (without the "D" in front) looks as if it has the terminals located as on the OEM battery. Which did you get and where?

I had an argument with two jerks at autozone over the phone, they insisted on looking for the car versus the specific Optima battery I want, then they could not see anything come up on their computer for the celica, and I ended up telling them to forget about the car and look to see if they had a D35 or not, they booth hung up on me, AS*^^*holes.

ok, actually, I finally found what fits our car, it is a 34R or a 35R. The "R" stands for "reverse posts"...these have the positive post on the passenger side of the car which is exactly where the positive battery cable is.

Nope, Get the D35

Here's my mail conversation with optima

Please accept our apologies for the delayed response.

The D35 is a reverse polarity battery, therefore, the positve post is on the right side rather than the left.

Hi there

How about the terminals? I understand this battery is specially designed for most import vehicles.. When you hold the battery with the terminals close to you it should have the positive on the right side.. is that the D35 or the D35R ?

I checked prices here... 240 euro :(, that's about twice your MSRP.
I am getting it anyway though :)

Greetz and thanks

Harko

That is correct. The Optima's are not gel batteries. They are sealed lead acid batteries. MSRP for the D35 is $140.

Hi there

Thanks for getting back to me!
Do I read correct this is not a gel-battery?

Do you have an estimation of the costs?

Greetings

Harko

Please accept our apologies for the delayed response.

The yellow top battery for your application is the D35.

AM Subject: Question on
Yellowtop

Hi there

I am about to buy an Optima Yellowtop battery for my 2000 Toyota Celica.

The thing is I don't have that much space for the battery.

I called toyotaand they said I should have a 65Ah battery where the capacity of a yellowtop that will fit is either 40 or 55 Ah for my car.

Is a 40Ah optima comparable to a 65ah lead-battery or how does that work?

I tried searching for a battery for my car but your system tells me there is no suitable battery for my car..

Any help is greatly appreciated.

My stock battery is 20 cm wide, 17 cm deep and 20 cm high..

I have a little bit of space in the width.

Can you advise me on a battery ?

Greetings

Harko

All you need is Optima yellow 34/78.
I bought one 6months ago. It droped
right in where the OEM use to go.
No problems at all. Everything lined up.
The only difference is the Optima is abit
smaller. And the terminals are closer.
Compared to the OEM. I melted my
wrench the first time bolting the connection
down. I wasn't paying attention and the other
end of my wrench touched the negative post.

yeah, you bought the 34/78 as opposed to the D34. I will have to look at it to see it the posts line up the same way as the OEM battery. I went to the Optima website and saw the 34R and 35R which have the posts exactly on the same side as the OEM battery. I was able to fit the D34 I bought with the posts opposite the OEM battery but it was a hassle getting the cables stretched out and bent to accept the new orientation on the posts, I am concerned that pover time I will get damaged or chaffed cables because they are quite taut now hence why I am looking at returning the D34 and getting the 35R which will fit perfectly.
Thanks

guys, go to: www.1st-optima-batteries.com

You will see a complete table with all the optima models as well as pics of the 34r and 35r that have the reversed posts that will fit the celica battery cables perfectly.
