I've been search around the forums and I figure the best sized screen that fits into a JDM console is 6 inches widescreen, right?
Also where can I buy a screen that fits best (6 inches widescreen) All I can find are 7 inch liliput screens which seem to be the most popular
Can the JDM console be fitted with a 7 inch screen with a little fabrication?
I figure that whe cost breakdown for all the stuff is:
JDM console + space filler: 150
6 or 7 inch screen: 280
DVD playback deck: 300
I was initially thinking about getting a carputer, but the only dude on this forum with one has it mounted in his glovebox, it's a pimp setup but would be an enormous amount of work to wire a carputer, not to mention mounting it. I figure getting a DVD deck would be best and not as much work, also I want to be able to play my dreamcast on the screen.
am I missing anything, or can I do it cheaper lol
any info is appreciated

5.8" and 6.5" widescreen are the same size...but more than 6.5 wont work.

The lilliput screen is vga and the smallest vga screens released right now are 7 inches. If there is a chance you would want to go with a carputer, you will need a vga screen. With some fabrication you should be able to fit the 7" screen in the jdm console or you could send your stock center console to lowredcruzr for him to fabricate the 7" opening for you.
If you're for sure not going to want a carputer, just get a regular screen thats under 7 inches since they arent that hard to find. I hear that 6.5" widescreen fits nicely

it hasn't even started.
I am contimplating a carputer but the usefulness is just not there. What I want is music, dvd, and dreamcast. I don't need GPS, wifi, or any other PC features.
The price of a dvd playback deck and a carputer are similar (around 400) but I'm sure the instalation of the deck is much much easier, especially considering wiring the speakers.
Anyways that's my little rant, I'm looking for an adequate screen, the options for a 6" screen is limited, I could only find a few, most screens are 7".

this is what I want to do, find a center console, and probably pay someone to modify it to fit a 7" screen. 6.5 ' screens are not as cool as a touchscreen 7', also 6.5' screens are not as common as 7'. Any input?

actually, i've found a lot of 6.5 screens..granted they arent big names, mainly middle-sized but they are alot of them out there...i think lowredcruzr does a custom setup on jdm consoles..he should be able to point you in the right direction...
