There is the blitz one and I think I saw a post with a brashboy (maybe someone else though) intake...

Blitz has two versions and Brashboy has one as well. In Japan most tuners just use a drop in air filter... TRD, C-One, etc...

Why is that do you think? It seems like the Japanese tuners are always all about pushing a car to its limits so you would think they would be developing performance parts that would gain the most power pissible.

They are also very strict on emissions...

That's a good point but what about their race cars that they use competively? Do they still utelise drop-in filters then?

most Japan tuned N/A use individual throttle bodies... and those that don't use throttle bodies use drop in air filters...
Here is a Mugen intake for the S2000, this is a very popular setup in Japan:

Oh ok...so they do make improved intake designs but they just use an airbox style intake with a drop in...I see. That's a pretty cool intake. I wonder why there haven't been any (that I know of anyways) made for the Celica with this sort of style.

you also have to remember that factory intakes have resonator boxes that keep the MAF sensor from vibrating to death and when you put on a aluminum intake, well you know how that story goes...

Slowica,
I've known about the s2000 duct for some time; there's also something like that for the RX8. Is there anything like this for the Celica??? I really want one!

the reason why theres that intake duct that goes into the front bumper is that the bumper diverts air straight into the intake. In stock form, theres a gap between the air being diverted into the air box, so cool air may be lost. our cars dont have any ducts that divert air into our intake. Unless you make such a thing then this mod would be useful.

Something like that could be made to duct air from the vent in the front bumper (at least for the '00's). I fabricated something like that out of heat shielding (functional but hideously ugly :ugh: ) and it definitely draws in cooler air to the airbox.

then technical design of the stock airbox is to grab cool air in the center top bumper hole where the emblem lies. the opening in the end of the box is the 'funnel' sahpe that grabs the coll air from the bumer hole.

Yep. I just have the bumper hole area "boxed off" from the radiator with heatshileding and a crappy but heat resistent duct leading up to the snorkel. Air temps average between 2 and 5 degrees hotter than wheelwell temps, the typical location of a CAI -- not bad considering there's no fear of hydrolock. Without the shielded duct, temps fluctuate between 6 and 12 degrees (and sometimes hotter!). Still, I'd rather have a molded piece specially designed to fit there like for the S2000.
Do you guys have pictures?

you guys could use somethinglike this vent made by Varis for the 350Z...

That's pretty sweet -- but based on how the stock box is set up, we would need something close to the Mugen S2000 intake to fit properly. With a short ram, you would still need some sort of heat resistant duct or sleeve so that only outside air was drawn into the intake.
I suppose you could also just have a bracket made in the bumper for a drop in filter that sits in front of the air duct outside opening, and have the inside end of the duct go up to a heat shielded pipe -- that would work really well! So long as there was a connecter between the two that could be easily removed when it rains heavily, you could just disconnect it from the bumper duct for total safety.
If you can find ANYTHING like this for the Celica, please let us know!

Yeah -- I'd be interested too! Also, does it come with mounting brackets or some sort?

They're 4 holes in each corner, im pretty sure you just screw or rivet it into your bumper.
