trany making crazy sounds...

My 6spd is making a very bad noise, sounds like grinding. it only happens at and around 3000 rpms. any gear. more in 1st and 2nd. what could that be?? fluid?


also my 2nd gear syncro is shot again. only on down shifts. i have never power shifted or grinded any gears. the trany was just rebuilt a few months ago. But that was in PA and i Live in NY

So can i bring in the reciept to a local dealer and ask them to fix it again under warrenty??

i shouldn't say the trany noise is a grind noise, it sounds like a whinning noise or something is loose inside or the gears are getting very noisey.

the grinding happens on a downshift.

the other noise happens when i hit the gas.

i just got a new clutch and it seems like my second gear grinding problem is gone. you might want to look into that. my stock clutch was gone and afte a few times of taking it to redline it would heat up a lot and cause the grinding.

you know what? you seem to be describing the same thing that I've got... EXCEPT, I don't know if you've tried this, but when I rev to around 3K it makes the same noise... in NEUTRAL

the buzzing/grinding seems like it's coming from the passenger side area. I've taken apart the glove box and checked the cabin filter and that doesn't seem to be what's causing the noise that's driving me insane

I'm going to be taking my car in as well. But some of these symptoms sound familiar. When I first take my car out in the morning I have ZERO problems, however, after awhile I will have some grindage issues.

However, I can consistently grind my downshift into 3rd IF I downshift from 6th gear......
