Hey, its the newb im back and after alot of search i have found this Celica http://autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?rdpage=thumb&car_id=189175697&dealer_id=56899897&car_year=2000&search_type=both&make=TOYOTA&sponsorModel=&model=CELICA&distance=50&address=48030&advanced=&certified=&bkms=1126899178666&max_price=&min_price=&end_year=2006&start_year=2000&isp=y&lang=en&cardist=4#vdptop
What do you all think of this? what do you think of the price compaire to the mileage? Is it good deal? what should i check?
Also i have found this Mitsubishi Eclipse http://autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=189374245&dealer_id=52034355&car_year=2003&model=ECLIP&bkms=1126935464315&lang=&isp=y&start_year=1981&certified=&search_type=both&distance=25&make=MIT&min_price=&address=48030&advanced=&end_year=2006&max_price=&cardist=10
Which one do you guys think is better? which one would win in a race? :)
Thanks in advance for the comments. and remember im just a newb :)
the celica will be much more fun to drive with the manual and the gt-s is decently quick but i dont know how it compares with the eclipse. all i can say is i love driving my gt-s

hell yeah me too gts
While I'm partial to Celicas, as well. However, I suspect that the Eclipse is the better value. All depends on what your looking for. The Eclipse is a 6cyl Auto.... is 3 yrs newer... and has lower mileage. The Celi looks in good shape.. low miles for an '00... but it has already had a clutch replaced & seems just a lil high for an '00... probably due to the low mileage.
Also, the Celi is a private seller vs. a dealer for the Eclipse. If your looking for handling, decent performance, and gas mileage..... go Celica!.... if your looking for value for your $.... I'd prolly go the Eclipse.

clutch changed already?! :wtf: that would make me worry. i bought my car at 42k miles and the clutch is still amazing! also the painted interior and "TRD parts" would make me worry a little. (keep in mind i would never buy a used car from a teenager or even anyone that would mod the car).
the eclipse does seem like a better deal for the money. although im partial to the celica (for obvious reasons).
i would try to talk to owner of the celica down. but take a close look at any mods that may have been there. such as cold air intake... down in front of the driver side wheel there may be a small hole cut out of the plastic for the CAI to sit. ask questions as to where the car was driven... pleasure use/work related? if everything seems legit go with the celi.
and the celi is gonna win in a race. those eclipse's are heavy as hell.
that's a decent price for the Celica
the Eclipse is a piece of ****.

get a older (99) eclipse (gs-t or gsx) if u want a eclipse, the celica has deff been driven hard as hell, i got mine from a old guy, 75k miles n org clutch, i have put 10 on it driving hard... mayb keep lookin
i got mine from a old guy ... maybe keep lookin Gotta watch us old guys ;-) I missed the race question... edge to the Celica. It has been modded... which is, among other possibilities, probably why its being sold privately.

Thanks alot for everyone's comments its very helpful to a newb guy like me :) for the celica i know i can get it down for the price because i called him and he sounded desperate lol like its 12k but on the phone he said 11k then he was like its not final price we can talk when you test drive it, also im not gona buy it right away im going to take it to a mechanic since i dont know much but ill check for the cold air intake and other things you guys mentioned. As for the eclipse i like it im not too sure about performance wise you guys are saying celica would beat it so ill take your word for it. As for the new clutch whats so bad about that its a good thing he put a new one on that i see what you guys mean by it has proly been driven hard and such but i dont see the big deal unless there are other reasons.
It is a good thing that the clutch is "new". However, the early demise of the clutch indicates accelerated wear. It's a good possibility that the tranny (a weak spot in the Celicas) has experienced the same accelerated wear, as well as other drivetrain components. The replaced clutch is an indicator of a possible "hard life". If he's desperate to unload it.... there's a reason.
I'd also find out what the official Toyo "In Service" date of the Celica is. Call a Toyo dealer with the VIN & they can tell ya. Even tho it has only 41K on it..... the 5 yr warranty has expired or is about to. You'd be buying it w/o a "safety net" and that should be reflected in the price.

clutch changed already?! :wtf: that would make me worry. .
I thought the same thing.
Id go check it out and see who the owner was. older or younger. If it was a younger person they could have raced it alot and dogged it out..
