I just put on my cold air intake and i didnt take my bumper off to install it! But I also didn't block any holse in the wheel well or anything. Am i taking a risk of hydrolock or is the little bit of water that gets in there not enough to cause it? Is there massive amounts of water that come throught the front by the fog light? Like if it was raining and I am on the highway and cars in front of me are throwing off water should I be really worried??

Your filter would have to be completely submerged in water to get your engine hydrolocked.

Well, I got a SRI and I don't really care about the power, I'm not taking a chance with CAI.

People have hydrolocked with those and even the stock airbox. It just takes a bit more effort. ;)

Puddles usually accumulate on the right side anyway.

That really depends on the slant of the road, doesn't it? I've seen underpasses with the left lane nearly flooded out. So that rule has no bearing in reality.

Just cover the holes in the wheel well plastic. I bought my car w/ a CAI installed and water got in my CAI, hit the MAFS and the car started stuttering. Didn't hydrolock but still scary and I think my plugs are fouled now. Just use some clear auto-duct tape (supposed to last 6 times longer than regular duct tape). Mine is holding up good and can't really see it.
Cause when a freak storm hits w/ flash flooding....those holes don't help

If it rains alot and your worried I would suggest getting an air bypass valve just to be safe. AEM has them for about 45 bucks.

dont cover them all up and cut airflow... its still gotta have enough air in there to be able to suck enough.

they dont work for our car... you would need to suck up half a lake in order for it to prove useful.
