all the connectors "should" be the same.. but no one has done it, so youd be the test mule..

of course I'll be the test mule I would have done it now just waiting for some money, any problems that I might encounter? Reset odometer etc.?

Why are you so obsessed with this ECU swap thing? This is about the 10th thread you've posted on it. Just go buy the thing and find out. At least go ask a Toyota parts person or a service tech.

Well first off my toyota techs doesn't know sheeit about this ecu business or they didn't want talk to me also they didn't know it changed I asked for part numbers and they found three diffrent ones and they cant tune the ecu they didn't even wanna sell me one....i went there first when i found out i couldn't rev past 7700 rpm.....

Well, as far as swap, how much further research have you done to verify valve clearance, compression etc... to make sure revvin to 8300 or so will not harm your engine? One thing you could do to verify somewhat of the same pinout, connections.. is check with Apex'i... I'm sure they've tried to hookup the AFC to it already.

Swap it and find out.. I'd take it easy for the first 500 miles,.. and STOP telling your stupid dealership about your plans. Then if and or when your engine goes or something because you swapped ECU's, you are screwed.

Auto[BoT]_GTS,
Unfortunately, I don't think anyone on the board can answer your questions to your satisfaction. Heck, YOU probably know more about the ECU differences than anyone else on here. The only way figure it all out is to bite the bullet, buy the new ECU,and test it out yourself. If you can't do that, then you might have to wait until someone else here does it, and who knows when that'll be. Good luck.

i say put that bitch in and test it out.. if anything goes wrong put your old ECU back in and take it to toyota..

exactly...i wish i'd have known this was gonna happen, i would've pulled the ecu outta my 6 speed after the "incident"; it'd probably be worth a pretty penny to some 02er

I have a 2000 ecu I was saving to use for
reprograming after engin mods.
How much is it worth by the way?

that depends...probably a little less than the amount it would cost to buy 1 from the dealer. however, i'm willing to bet that you can't get a 00/01 ecu from the dealer meaning there is a limited amount of 00+ Celica ECUs around w/ the higher redline. in that case, they would be worth more than a new 02 ecu from the dealer or more. give it time till all the 02 gts guyz realize they're a lot slower than the 00/01 guyz and you prob snag a grand or more. however, when someone makes a fully programmable ecu for the car, it will seriously drop i suppose.

what ever happened to tht elprototyp ecu that let us rev to 9000 rpms?

why'd they discontinue that?

It was never produced. As far as we know it is still in prototyping stage. I think I heard that they were having serious probs with the engines ability to rev that high, and they found that the lift point was optimal already, and that modifying it resulted in lost power...

Auto[BoT]_GTS,
Here are two good resources that may help you find an ECU cheaper than at a dealer. Larry told me about these sites recently:

http://www.junkyarddog.com/

http://www.copartfinder.com/

Buy an ECU, test it out, and let us know what you find out. That way, we'll all know for sure what effect a ECU swap would have, instead of just speculating about it. Good luck!

ECU = Electronic Control Unit
ECM = Electronic Control Module

Same thing, different term.
