I own a 01 eclipse and love it. I would suggest you goto www.club3g.com and see if theres anyone local selling their car.
The car has low miles but the price still seems a little steep. If you buy a 3G that has around 60k miles on it make sure the "60 thousand mile service" was done. That service alone can cost about $800 at the mitsu dealer.

I own a 2004 Eclipse GTS, and I also love it. The interior is ****, and its heavy as hell, but it has awesome Torque, been virtually problem free except for the mechanics at Mitsu screwing up my AC and my door. I have the Spyder, and think its a great daily driver. Nice and Comfy but the rear seats are useless. I was able to fit 2 Momo seats and an Autopower Rollbar in it though :D

I CAN'T i have been looking for months and i can't find a good gts celi around here and its pissing the hell out of me i really want one but i can't.....%#$&, so im gona have to settle with my 2nd choice which is an eclipse :( , anyways EcLites what do you mean by a 3G, 3 galons? lol im a noob so i dont know is it like a different kind like better than a gts or something i know there is a GS and GTS and the GTS is better dont know why also i want the warrenty lol so if something happens to the car they can fix it for me. thanks for the help :)

just wait till you find a gts that suits you - rushing into it isn't a good idea

How much do you guys think its worth? maybe i can talk the dealership into lowering the price including some bumps, scraches and a pretty loud noise that i heard while test driving it from the back of the car when i slow down.

I used to sell cars for four years and what I always tell my friends to negotiate a fair price is:

1.) Get all the info on the car you want to buy (milage, equipment, etc.). This can be done by calling the dealer or going to visit and test drive. Remember when dealing with salesman they are people too. They will push you to see what they can get away with, so be firm but never rude. Being rude will not make them cooperative.

2.) Call your insurance company or bank and find out the loan value for the particular car you want. Loan is the number banks use to determine a cars value. This number is totally different than retail, private party, or trade in.

3.) Call the dealer and tell them you are making a genuine offer of $500 over that loan figure. This is only if you have previously looked at a car at a dealer. Remember most car dealers have between 3-5k markup. DO NOT GO TO THE DEALER AGAIN UNLESS THEY AGREE TO THE FIGURES! Your greatest strength in car negotiations is the fact that you do not have to buy the car. By calling them to work out the deal you have all the control.

4.) Make them give you a price with tax included. Let them know if the price changes any when you arrive the deal is off. Again do not be rude just be firm.

5.) Go online, to your bank, or to your insurance company and get a loan. If you need a warranty (a good idea with any used Mitsubishi) now is the time to get it. Car dealers make money 3 ways: purchase price, finance points, and insurance products. By doing what I am telling you you will minimize one and avoid the other two.

6.) Go pick up your car! You bring in the loan paperwork and fill out the purchase forms. This whole process can be completed in a day. It will prevent you from having to be a "Master Negotiator" and give the dealer a minimal fair profit.

If you do buy an Eclipse. DO NOT get an RS or GS.

People are under the impression the GTS Celica would blow a GTS Eclipse out o fthe water. The GTS Eclipse have seen the same 1/4 Mile times of a GTS Celica.

Topend is no doubtedly belonging to the Celica but if the Eclipse is slow, then so is the Celica.

dont buy the eclipse its a pos. if u can afford an 03 eclipse i'd reccomend getting an RSX Type S over both cars

if u want torque get a 03+ V6 accord or 02+ V6 altima both will smoke all the cars we are talking about with more room and better reliablity

I'd take a Tiburon over the Eclipse, based on looks. On a performance level i remember reading tiburon wasnt that bad. Only problem its a hyndai but not like mitsu has a great rep. Bottom line, in my eyes Tiburon>Eclipse

:bs: ... dude i raced one of these from a 20mph roll. he had i/e, i had a intake. we were pretty much dead even until about 3rd gear and i started to pull on him, by the time i got 120 i had atleast a car and a half on him. dont give out b/s info to people like that. the eclipse gts has very nice low end trq, but suffers on top end. end of story :eatpop:

Just bacause you raced that one and won doesnt mean nothing. Though I disagree that the Eclipse GTS is faster, it definitely is equal. On topend, if to 120 you had a car and a half, it didnt suffer. 1 car isnt alot. Especially from a 20 MPH Roll.

The top end on a Celica GTS is undoubtedly better, but marginally. Mod for mod though, the Eclipse slowly falls back further.

i forgot to mention, i had two people in my car, full interior, and luggage from our trip that we just went on. he was gutted and by him self. i think if i would have had the kazuma on at the time, i would have won by alot more. but theres no way the eclipse gts is faster than a celica gts. thats all i was saying.

dont buy a car because he is faster than the other, buy a car that when you will get up every morning and you'll see your car in the driveway and you'll say god i love it i wanna go for a ride !! Even if something i say that i could of get a car faster than the celica gts when i see my car i love it !!

00 and 01's are preferable for ECU mods. Go 03. 04 and 05 have lower rev limiters. The 04 isnt that bad at 8200, but 00, 01 and 03 are 8350 and 05 is back to 7800.

This is a newbie question but doesn't the engine blow up if you stay in same gear for too long so like if you get up that high of rev like 8k rev isn't that bad for you engine? im not sure so im asking :). I don't know if its just me but i don't see that as a big deal i mean i wont be getting the rev that high anyways lol a hundred or so revs i dont think is a big deal lol but thats just me. And couldn't you always just replace it and make it higher like replace the ECU with an 00 or 01 ECU correct me if im wrong.

I wouldn't focus on increasing your revs. That's like trying to squeeze more juice from an orange that's already empty. Exhaust, intake, remap...they are some mild mods that should impress you more. You can always decompress the block and whack a T66 Turbo on it with a stand alone ECU then??? lol
