i dissasembled my stock gauges to scan them so i can custom make my own... well studip me didnt think that taking the needles off would f**k anything up.... well it did... when i put it back together my spedo is 2k rpm high and 36mph high...
now i gotta take it all back off and try to readjust it... i dont think it will be too hard thought when the car is off it stays at 2krpm and 36mph...
just a prewarning for anyone who installs aftermarked gauges or make your own...

I don't think it's that bad. we have had alot of people install guages in thier cars. We even have a few guides in the installs section to help you. Mine is off by about 2mph in the speedo and my tach is right on.

its actually not that hard to fix the tach. That how i set it so fuel cut was 8k instead of 8.2k easier to hit not that i ever really look at my tach anymore anyway. just start the car get it up to normal running temps and it will ideal ~900 set it then go drive around a bit and hit fuel cut in like 2nd. As for the the speed mine was always off by 5-7 but i learned to deal with it. I just put the key in the ACC possition and placed the needle at 0.

I took my needles off and had no problem resetting them!

I haven't tried this, someone else posted it a while ago. How to recalibrate your gauges:
With the gauge hanging, turn on the ignition to the acc position. Wait for 20 seconds and the gauge cluster should calibrate itself. Speedo and tach setting now is calibrated to be at zero. Replace the needle , making sure it points to zero. Gently push the needle back on. Note: do not handle the needle by the arm. Hold it at the black plastic center while doing this. Turn off the ignition. Wait 3 minutes and turn it back to acc position. Needle should move as the gauge calibrate itself and then fall back to zero. If needle does not fall back to zero, carefully remove the needle and repeat this procedure again until needle show zero after calibration.

it's quite easy to recalibrate your gauges... but if you are iffy about something like this you should probably leave your car completely stock...

there is that method of recalibration, that could work, but i got confused, said **** it, waiting for my car to idle correctly, popped it back on around 900 RPM, its dead on b/c fuel cut off is right where it should be, as for the speedo, get one of your friends in a stock car to drive on the highway with you, have him put it on cruise for like 60, then pop the needle on so it says you are going 60...I did this with my dad, just try not to swerve too much ;) now everything is perfect again, and i know my speedo is right b/c i drove past one of those police clocking devices on the side of the road hat say how fast your are going, and it was dead on, good luck!
