i think the most gain and least expence would get dc sport header, if you dont' wanna get exhusat and intake, get just the header.

^^^^what everyone else said and also some good tires and a good suspension. There isnt a point to have alot of power if you cant keep it to the ground. I'm basically right with you. I have e/i, and ss, but I'm trying to keep it to all bolt ons and run a mid 13 1/4. That right there and I will be happy.

suggestions on good exhausts and intakes?
i want to have a very hollow type noise with my exhaust...

An intake would be a great start, just pick up an AEM knockoff from ebay for ~$30-40. A header will do nothing for a Gts unless you are running higher compression. There are so many exhausts out there for our cars, just search the forum on that one. I would add a SS to the equation as well, these three are very noticable mods that you can hear and feel everytime you drive your car.

GReddy is a good exhaust system is and so is Tanabe's Racing Medallion, don't go turbo all of a sudden get a feel of the car (thats what people usually tell me)
get a aem or injen cai (used $100), port stock header(free) take axleback off,or buy a Knock off N1 muffler and go to a exhaust shop and get piping if you want loud and good sounding .. or buy a brand new greddy evo for 379 shipped from ebay. and get a megan racing short shifter for $50 bucks from megan racing its the exact same thing as a B&M exept it doesn't come with the lube you can buy that for really cheap from the store..... oh and you can always do weight reduction, Rear seats, spare, jack.. the rest isn't worth taking out unless your trying to roll around w/o passenger seat .
you can't go turbo cheap with a celica it will run you around $3000 to do it right.. also what do you mean by i want a hollow type noise exhaust

There is a Newbie Forum for exactly these types of questions. I'd suggest you start there instead of using this forum to ask extremely general questions.

If you want a good exhast that sounds nice, you could get a TRD one. I have one, and it has a nice deep rumble and gives a bit of power as well.

I remember flipping through Sport Compact Car and on the back it had a greddy ad and it advertised that the Evo2 for the GTS gains 8hp and 11tq or something along those lines

The DC header doesn't really do all the much, and it even does less coupled with other breather mods (intake, exhaust, ect.). Your best bet header-wise is to get your stock one ported. Free if you can do it yourself.

There is no AEM v2 CAI for the celica. Gen 2 might be what you are thinking of. Even with this, you will probably end up with bogging and need to do Blue Bomber's mod. Save yourself some money and buy a knock-off off ebay and do BB's mod to it.
but I'm trying to keep it to all bolt ons and run a mid 13 1/4. That right there and I will be happy.
Good luck.

I would suggest either the TRD or TPR (if you can get it) exhaust. Great sound, good gains, great exhaust systems. As for the intake, definitely ebay intake with the BB mod.

A turbo kit done right is going to be well over $3000. The parts might cost around $3000, but you have to figure in installation ($800-$1000), tuning ($500ish), gauges ($300), clutch ($300), and other miscellaneous parts needed.

I would never trust magazine dynos.
horsepower costs money - there are no cheap ways to lots of horsepower (well, nitrous maybe . . . )

Best on mods that you can do are, without going turbo... AEM, TPR or BB CAI, TRD or TPR Exhaust, Ported head, Good clutch w/ Fidanza Flywheel, SS, and Power FC properly tuned. Thats about it for good mods to give you power. With good sticky tires and good driving you should be able to drop into the low 14's which for a Celica isnt too bad. Add in an LSD and you should be good for high 13's Even turbo Celicas are barely making it into the mid 13's cause traction in our cars is a bitch!

basically what he said
don't waste your money on a GReddy or Tanabe exhaust - they're both ricer exhausts and the TRD has been proven to make more power.
if you get an intake make sure its a COLD AIR intake, otherwise you're going to be losing power by sucking hot air up from the engine bay into the intake

you pretty much want a N/A engine. ummm, look into things like pulleys, intakes, exhausts, headers, flywheel and performance clutch kits, electrical grounding kits, lighting up your vehicle weight, and cooling like performance radiators. Making your car sound good just depends on the exhaust that you get. one thing though, and from what I've seen so far, don't cut the resignator off your Cat-Converter. oh yeah, getting a high flow-cat would help too. then again, a lot of new Celica's have governors in them, so making them faster ain't going to help too much. it all depends on what you want to do for your car. as for me, even without turbo, I'm running about $8000 in my car right now for parts.

All I say is for the money a short ram intake or home made CAI and a camcon VVT-i tuner are the best two things for simple horsepower and better fuel economy.

:thumbdown :eslap:
there is no AEM v2 for the GT-S, pulleys are a bad idea all around and they don't do much and the DC sports header as a gain of -1whp
TRD exhaust sounds nice IMO, for intake get AEM GEN 2 or Injen both work fine if you do the BB mod I personally like injen better(once the BB mod is done) but if u don't wanna chop up your intake just get the AEM(or the ebay rip off if u like), it works better w/o the mod then the injen. then get PFC and ur good..lol

Actually The Tanabe Exhaust (TSRM) is one of the deepest sounding exhausts you can get, which is completely opposite form the winery sound experienced from a "ricey exhaust." But if you don't like the looks of a fart can then go with a TRD exhaust. You are not going to notice the difference in power between a TRD exhaust and a TSRM because there is only like 1hp difference. Go with whatever you think looks/sounds better. If you tell me how to get post sound clips I could post some for the TSRM exhaust.

watchu need to do and im not being a **** or anything, but research on the car before asking questions about what intake you should get..blah blah blah..when u research you'll find the answers to the intake, exhaust, header etc etc or turbo kits and etc etc..

evo2 isnt actually a bad exhaust....were talkin about 1 hp difference on all street exhausts....if you want a big gain...get a teardrop exhaust and it only weighs 8lbs.....except that its not street legal and you might get a billion tickets....
besides...everything depends on the flow of air youre taking for you to blow out.....my conclusion is.....learn how to balance your upgrades...try starting with intakes.....easiest and you can DIY.....

is the teardrop exhaust loud?
pulleys do nothing
intake/exhaust/header might give the car a slight kick but nothing signficant
the most horsepower/dollar gain is a turbo - its expensive at first but you can't beat the gains from it, and it will transform your car into something that's not embarassingly slow.

I remember flipping through Sport Compact Car and on the back it had a greddy ad and it advertised that the Evo2 for the GTS gains 8hp and 11tq or something along those lines
:p: oh magazine ads. Typically an exhaust on its own won't add any actual noticable HP difference. You'll feel it though, because it sounds nicer and you paid money for it. If you really want horsepower out of a car there are some things you need to realize:
#1) It's not cheap. Horsepower takes both money and time. Quality parts, a good mecahnic, or the proper set of tools and plenty of time to do the work right.
#2) You can get all the fancy **** you want to tack onto your car and still not really experience good gains. Basically the hobby isn't called "tunning" because it sounds cool. Things need to work together. An empty dyno test of +8hp means nothing, what intake, what compression if any, what oil, what fuel, etc etc. Some intakes are known to increase low end HP some high end, so what's the best exhaust for each situation to compliment your car to get an overall good dyno read.
Spend time really picking out quality parts and keep asking questions about stuff, don't just go off one persons experience. Anyway hope that's helpful.
As far as exhaust goes the first thing I put on my car was AEM intake, the second was a tanabe super racing medalion exhaust, it's amazing sounding and has served me well. Nice low end gains, no bogging. (I have a GT-S too)
