Anyone familiar with these rims? They make a set of slipstream in gunmetal in my area thats 15x7 5x100 with an offset of 35...and the rim weighs exactly 12lbs...thats saving around 9lbs off my 18s i have on at the moment...im thinking about buying a set of these for racing at the track and dynoing...any celica here have slipstreams? OH yeah they're pretty cheap thats why im considering them....only 400$

You'll definitely need wheel spacers, otherwise they will fit fine. Another option that is less than a lb heavier and will fit perfectly are the Subzeros. You'll need hub centering rings for both.
You can get a good deal from http://www.18racing.com/index.html. Call and ask for Jenny, Mention that Jordan Litman from Tampa sent you and she may even give you a discount ;)

i wouldnt want to go with them the slipstreams, spoon look a likes, look better to on a honda compared to a toyota. but on the other hand, if they can also look good on the celi then you can get em..

I was thinking about the Slipstreams originally too -- I went with the subzeroes even though they are just under a lb heavier because I didn't want to have to deal with wheel spacers and IMO they are quite a bit prettier.
BTW -- lightweight wheels are a great mod! You will definitely feel the difference!
If you want really light reasonably sticky tires, look for the Toyo T1-S's. The ones that replace them (T1-R???) are a bit heavier for same size tire. If you drop overall diameter from whatever you are running now, you'll also have better gearing. Wouldn't drop more than an inch overall tho'.
Don't know if this for auto-x, but if so, just some other things to think about ;)

I was told the 15" wouldnt fit on our cars because it wouldn't clear the calipers?? I really wanted to 15" because they only weigh 11lbs...and the 16" weigh 13lbs... >.<

Allegedly, the 15" Slipstreams will fit IF you use wheel spacers. They will rub the caliper if you don't use a spacer. Don't know what the offset is, but something about the design of the actual wheel makes it rub ...
The 15" Subzeros fit perfectly, the offset is +40 (I believe stock is +39).
The Slipstreams supposedly weigh 11.8 lbs, so with lugs it's just over 12 lbs. But I thought that value was for the 15x6.5; the 15x7's probably weigh a bit more ... I would think by at least 1/2 a lb.
The Subzeros 15x6.5 are claimed by Rota to be 12.5 lbs, but I weighed mine when I got it and it was just under 13 lbs. This is very close to the wheelweight.net estimate of 12.9, so that's probably about right.
Actually, if you have the money, you might also consider the Motegi Trak Lites or Trak Lite 2's -- they are forged instead of cast, and weigh a mere 10 and 10.5 lbs respectively. However, the TL and TL2's are both a little pricey (about double what the Rotas cost...), come in only one or two colors with a bolt pattern for the Celica, and will almost definitely require spacers.
Keep in mind the weight of the tire too, tho'! You can get that information on most tire manufacturers' websites. If you switch to a lighter wheel but a heavier tire, the overall change in weight may not be noticable. Also, if you go to a taller than stock tire, you will wind up with poorer effective final gearing.

15 inch slipstreams would look weird. WAY too small. At least go 16 if they make the size. Let me find a pic of slips on the celica. brb

Based on those pics, go with the subzeroes.

Actually, the Slipstreams don't look bad -- Spoon knockoffs or not -- so unless this is for competition, where absolutely every lb of rotating mass counts, I say just go with whichever one suits your personal taste.
Only other concerns are: (1) Availability - if you decide on one and you can't find it in stock, you either have to wait/search more or pick something else. (2) Fitment - again, the Slipstreams, though roughly 1 lb lighter (they do NOT weigh 11 lbs -- they're closer to 12, or possibly more on a 15x7), will defitely need spacers. Not the end of world, of course, but it is one extra PITA to deal with.

I think if you went 18 b4 .. that means you have some preference for appearance and not just performance. I say 15 is strictly performance. I do not see any appearance points anywhere with these. 16 is a good balance between show and go. And 17's leaning more to show.
I say find 16's b/c I think thats the smallest rim that will look good on our car.
I've searched rotas, There really aren't many options for 5x100 except on wrx's which run +48 offsets. Ideal on celicas are +30 to +35 so u'll need to run like a 10mm spacer. A set from H&R for 4 spacers will run more than $200.

he said he wants them for Track and Dyno only. He obviously doesn't care if they they look too small.
I'm also looking for lightweight 15x7s. Any other good choices out there?

someone makes a rim called the helium, theyre cheap as piss too and weight under 10 lbs. theyre prone to bending though but for one racing hard yu could buy 2 heliums.

i have 15inch rota subzeros on my celica, the weigh difference from stock gt wheels n tires to the new rotas with tires was 5 lbs. the tires were falken ziex. And came with new lug nuts that are tiny compared to stock and overall weigh alot less when u hold all 20 in each hand. Acceleration has increased, not much. Wheel gap is bigger since the tires were not 195s but 215s. Ive only gotten comments on the rims, but gotten a few negative from the wheel gap, I myself do not like the wheel gap either. I beleive its around 4 inches in the rear and 3 in the front.

With a +35 offset they will fit fine. The reason that you people think that they wont fit is that there are other sizes available like 15x6.5 with a +40 offset.
