Well, the results are in from Topeka, kind of some shockers.
Carter Thompson in the MR2 Turbo wins BS, over some extremely talented competition (no suprise to see Carter in the winners circle, just that he did it in the MR2!).
And in GS, some local hotshoe dusted off his '94 MX6 and dusted the competition. Hmmm... Maybe those MX6 cars will be OK in the new GS.

Would those be Koni's or is he still running stock shocks (disappointing if they are Koni's, expected if they are still the stockers).
How do you know when Koni goes bad. I know my stock ones went so slowly it was pretty subtle, it was eventually manifested by lots of tire rubbing in hard corners, and eventually rubbing even in slaloms.

They were out of the box Konis. Both fronts were leaking. He suspects they may have been bad from the gitgo, or started to go away @ FL. Will have to keep an eye on ours.

It must suck to distribute a product and get a defective pair...

The good thing is that they have been shipped back to Koni for a post mortem, so we'll know soon if it was an isolated incident or if there is a problem we need to be concerned about.

We'll you could always pay $1050 plus two OEM fronts and not have to worry about it.
We all know hand made Koni's are better then off the assembly line jobbers... :)

Are these the same hand mades you ran at Petersburg last year, and said one was shot? I remember that being the excuse that the GT-S beat all of ES at that event. Not trying to bring up the GT-S/GT discussion, for I'm getting in Bryan's GT for the Pro this year..

Yes, those are one in the same ;)
The problem I had with the shock was created when they were built. After I finally got them fixed they were fine.
Petersburg should be fun, even though I don't necessarliy like the site for Pro's...

Rick,
I agree with you on that. Petersburg, when they pave the other half will be fine for a Tour event, but there isn't a lot of traction there for a Pro. :ugh: The best part about it for me is that it's the only event that I'm driving less than 11 hours to. It's only 1 1/2 hours from my house. Look forward to seeing you there. Is your Mom going to run your car there too? - Aaron

She will probably be there as well. Will they repave the original lot? How is it holding up.... All those dragster's spilling oil has made it's mark, so to speak, of the place....

The lot is holding up fine actually. Still bumpy, but no broken pavement or anything like that. Next to the entire length of the paved section is a flat dirt section, that is used for overflow parking for the dragway. After holding a NOPI or SEMA event there last fall, there were so many cars, that VMP decided that they might need to pave that side too. Thus, they've thought about paving the whole site, for uniformity. Hard to say if it will be good or not, but the SCCA has interest in it, for they can hold a Pro and Tour there on back to back weekends then. - Aaron

If they hold a tour there, they have to open up the dragstrip for us on Saturday Night.... That would be too much fun!

I agree with that. Autxr and my local autox club are holding an event on May 18th in Laurinburg, NC on nice grippy, wide open concrete (www.THSCC.com). It just so happens that May 17th, we also hold a bracket race at Rockingham Dragway. Last year we had about 16 cars in the bracket. This year, I expect about 30+ (Scott and I both got eliminated in the Semis). The itinerary works like this: Friday afternoon, setup autox course. 6 pm, hit the dragstrip. 2 practice runs each. Then the dragway (open drag night) runs a heat of our bracket about every three heats of open drag runs. Winner is determined in the finals. 11pm, lots of drinking poolside at the hotel. Saturday, recovery in the morning, and then run a 125 car autocross (entry is capped). Sunday, rest and relaxation. I say it's the perfect weekend. - Aaron

Yep, then the pro the following weekend, and the tour the weekend after that + week in Buffalo, then the two day AX at Rocky Mount, then... Phew!!!!! Gonna put a LOT of miles on the ol' Celi.
We went to the IHRA National Drag races @ VMP last weekend.
There were more transporters and race cars there than @ a Winston cup, Busch, and Craftsman truck race put together. They just swallowed up that lot: paved unpaved and areas I hadn't even realized existed.
