so anyway, my a/c lights and radio controls are fixed!! after following this guide:

http://www.newcelica.org/forums/showthread.php?t=177355
thanks for all the help, and the stickys and the solutions...

but there's still a tiny problem. It's not a big deal, but I'm curious too... the centre part of my radio is always on (if the headunit was on) even if I don't turn the switch on the headlights (I disable DRL by the way). but if the player's off, the controls are off. I remember before, it was the other way round, the control lights would be on, and the centre part off if the headunit was off. The centre part only got permanently on when a shop installed my remote start. Does anyone know what's going on, and how to reverse this?

That "fix" is actually a work around. You lose the dimming capability when you do the "fix". It puts any lights after the broken W/G wire on full. While it is a viable work around. There should be a disclaimer on the sticky to find where the wire is broken... it leads back to the combo meter & is controlled by the dimmer rheostat on the left dash.

As for your head unit problem... I'm a little confused... maybe you can provide some more specifics? But, it could be related to your "repair" or it could be related to the remote start installation... but unlikely.

Make sure to check the 4 prong fuse on the interior fuse box..
It's the skinny long fuse, there should be 4 of them....

thanks for the replies guys, and sorry I took so long to reply. I just moved to vancouver, and it was a really long drive from winnipeg.
I was mistaken, my lights do come on, just that I have to insert the key and start the car. my unit's centre display light is just permanently on when the unit's on, but that's perfectly fine with me.

thanks again,
