I just got hit today...stupid ppl these days...she hit my back bumper and it was all her fault. I got a estimate of 540$!!! cant i just get a new kit? and paint it? hmmm I dunno wut to do. she said she dont wanna involve insurance but I think if the price is high she will. What should I do?

If you make the price too high, she'll involve insurance and then your stuck with the minimum repairs. If the estimate is 540, just try getting like 800 from her and you'll be up on the $$$ without any real risk

make it clear to her she can spend alot now or later when her insurance goes up when you report her tell her you need a 1000 bux cause it is special order paint. and bigity bam

Land of the free... Lucky.

Not sure about the other provinces, but in Alberta if the damage is more than $500 you must file a police report.

Is it only me that thinks that's just down right wrong. Don't you feel like a theif by conning someone to give you much more money than the repair is worth? Call me old fashion but I could not honestly cheap someone like that. I know soo many guys who do that **** to both individuals and insurance companies.

No its not insurance scam....the correct term is insurance fraud...good luck if you are gonna try it.....this is how the real insurance industry works. Never trust someone that says they will pay for it out of pocket. Make them turn in a claim. Go get two estimates, high ones if you want, hand it in to the insurance company and they will give you a check. They dont care what you do with the check, as long as they have you paid off.

I'm with ya on this one. It's lame as hell to be conning people out of more money than it takes to fix the car.
