Why doesn't Toyota want to support the 2zzge? I've been having problems with my engine not hitting lift. After they run an engine scan and do a stall test they tell me there is no problem. I printed the info about it off the forum which help my case. Then all of a sudden they know what the problem is. They say that I have some valves out of adjustment and that I have to pay them 300+ dollars for them to re-shim the valves. If they find something inside that idicates warranty work then they'll cover it under warranty otherwise I'm screwed. I've had a VelSide kit just chillin for over 3 months while they sort this S@#T out. If it wasn't for the forum I wouldn't have gotten this far. I love NC but I hate Toyota right now. Anyone work at a service center near Cincinnati, OH that can help me get this fixed?

that's completely ridiculous...you have a warranty on your engine, right? tell them it's an engine issue, and anything to do with valves is under warranty. valves are not like clutches. they should have been shimmed properly from the factory.

Thats what I said but they keep hinting towards me misshifting. They ask If I've ever overreved the car and I say no. They act like I don't know what I'm talking about and keep explaining how the engine works. After I'm done correcting the master mechanic on what rpms the car has to rev to inorder to engage the lift he says "Well I just wouldn't rev a car that high it's carzy. What's crazy about 6000 rpms?

either go to another dealership or call you regional Toyota office and explain this to them

I've done all of this. Infact I've called the regional people twice they're just as clueless as the dealership. All they rely on is the computer and if it isn't showing a trouble code then there isn't anything wrong with the car. I think that I'll just file a lemon law and get a WRX. I just hate to buy a car that doesn't look half as good as my Celica. But you can't argue with performance! What ever you do don't move to Ohio. This region sucks @$$

since you dont have any mods that would cause valvetrain damage they hsoudl pay for it. Why should they make you pay for it. And if they say you mis-shifted then why are they hasseling you for money? Almost everyone who has misshifted has not had to pay any money for the work. It was all done through warrenty (that's very nice of toyota). Oh and about the 6000rpms, ask them why didn't they sell you Celica GT instead? Have them pay you the difference in price between a GT-s and GT.

Dude, which jank-ass dealership are you taking your car to? I seriously doubt you are over 60,000 miles already, so they should cover it no problem. A lot of what a dealership will do for you depends on your attitude. Be respectful and nice, and you will almost always get what you want. It doesn't hurt to play completely dumb too. Try Toyota of Cincinnati, a guy named Bill French used to take care of me there and never gave my any trouble. Also, the reigon doesn't suck, it's just that the people on the other end of the phone at Toyota WILL NOT commit to anything remotely technical over the phone. Their only recourse is to help you with the resources to get the car fixed (eg. find another dealer, etc...). Good luck with your car.

BTW, nice user name. Cincinnati = teh V1 Capital of the World!

I've talked to the people at the corporate offices and they call the dealership who just says that there is no problem with the car. I'm trying to talk to some other people at other dealerships to work this problem out. And no I don't have over 60,000 miles on my car, I only have 35,000. By the way, the V1 is a great piece of machinery. It's saved my @$$ many times.

Toyota is clueless man. I was doing 40 mph in 3rd in rush our traffic when my engine went. Guess what? No error codes tripped at all. But Toyota did know that they weren't going to cover it. Face it, they hire great design engineers, but crappy internal management.
