New product from ATP. I just bought one. Looks like I'll have to hack up C2's DP a little bit. :eatpop:

Ummm, thats just another internal gate bro - its nothing like an external gate. In fact that is exactly how your SF turbo was gated.

also the wastegate flapper on your turbo is built in the turbine housing
This new internal wastegate is fully compatible with most 5 bolt style T3 housings on the market, including ATP's own 5 bolt housing especially casted to house the Garrett GT Ball Bearing series including models such as GT28RS, GT2871R, GT3071R, GT30R/GT3076R, GT30/40R and the GT35/40R.
So unless your planing on changing your housing and manifold it wont work

:werd: It works with THEIR T3 style housing for the GT turbos. Also, I don't see how this is any different from any other internal wastegate setup like boosted said. This will perform just the same as the internal wastegate that your turbo already has.

If you have the T3 flange, this should be almost as good as an external wastegate, but I assume its cheaper. The flow characteristics should be much better than your average internal as the valve is outside the turbo.
Once you are modding the DP though, I recomend just getting an external, tial 38 is only like 200 on ebay and is rock solid.

I hate that place. Why can't you just sell the damn GT-series as Garrett makes it? I have the same problem with Precision Turbo.
Also, my modified downpipe is better than that.

Not really - most internal gates use the exact same design. Plus thats a very SMALL wastegate. Just as possible to get boostcreep at high rpm. Plus the true divorced piping has a few very significant benefits in terms of exhaust flow.

they actually do sell them as the come from Garrett but have other options, to sute different setups

Its true that the new one is not better than the old in terms of boost creep... the valve is still the same size. It does solve the problem of flow restriction by the internal gate being there prior to the opening of the wastegate, but an external is still gonna be better for both...
I actually really like ATP, they have a lot of products that are a pain to find anywhere else, and they also have good customer service and very quick shipping.
And I'm pretty sure most modified/custom DPs are better that that...
I went with a tial external and bring the flow back in decently smooth, and my EGT hole is a bunch closer to the turbo. We also don't need to have a coupling like 2 inches from the turbo... which seems like a bad idea for some reason... and my DP uses the same spiffy fitting seal thing that attaches to the midpipe that came stock (liked it so much I cut it off and attached it to the end of hte DP)

I dislike those companies because they take the GT-series CHRA and put their own cheap housings on it that they can sell for a huge profit. If you've ever talked with any of them on the phone (especially Precision Turbo), they don't even know what they're talking about and will tell you whatever it takes to push their high margin stuff out the door.

Sadness :( I just cancelled the order before they ran my card through.

Yes, I was poking around some more on the site after I placed the order and realized that my GT28RS comes standard from Garrett with a T25 flange and 5 bolt GT discharge. That T3 housing required for the wastegate must be a special thing, like Jesse said, through ATP. Oh well, another reason I cancelled it.
I'll shut up in the future...but thanks for the heads up guys. Although, Jesse, I have bought quite a few helpful little thing at ATP. Seals and gaskets that are hard to find, etc. And they have good deals on their flexpipes.

I suppose, but I'll bet good money 95% of their profit comes from selling 40 dollar banjo fittings and fifteen dollar oil inlet fittings, not from the housings, but who knows.

seriously, it was a good question. I was really curious about that when I saw it on their site. And ATP is definatly a good company. They may switch out some housings, but they really are the best/only source for a lot of stuff... I've certaintly shelled out for a bunch of stuff there that I couldn't find anywhere else.
And to ATP's credit, they do qualify their description of the product by starting the description with "whatever the reason for sticking with the internal..."
It takes a sec to realize that the new wastegate really isn't much different from a normal internal... looking at it now I don't know what I was thinking about it improving flow dynamics before opening... only difference is it may flow a bit better when open than if there were a flange right in front of the hole... but I doubt it would be terribly different.

:werd: Like for my setup, I could get a GT28RS line but with a housing that would enable me to keep my current dp and IC pipes without any change.
