i've read the same in a few different mags, there was even a two page ad in AutoWeek (4/22/02) that a poster on MatrixVibe.net reported:
"...it should come as no surprise that the first three aftermarket enhancements developed for the Matrix by Toyota Racing Development are a wheel and tire package, an exhaust system and lowering springs. Other TRD-developed equipment is in the works. Look for such things as a cold air intake, high-performance headers, a forced induction system and engine management modifications.
"One experienced Toyota tuner notes that the engine already has been tweaked by the factory to achieve its very high output, so that usual mods may only get you another 15 or so horsepower.
"The aftermarket industry is ready for the Matrix too--companies such as HKS, Eibach, Brembo, Borla, Motegi, and RO-JA wheels and Pirelli already have product. Rod Millen Motorsports also has stuff in the works."
!? engine management? also i think that "15 or so horsepower" is quite BS. there's no way they'd offer a CAI for a car, would they? hydrolock. but if they did, it'd make 15whp alone on the XRS (2ZZ-GE powered)...
maybe they mean the 1ZZ, in which case, it is harder to get horsepower, and 15whp would be quite optimistic for I/H/E...
what do you think dave (draper)? are they talking about that 1ZZ supercharger? will it be out for the celica too? still nothing on the 2ZZ?
