View Full Version : XS Engineering - Engine Management?

What does XS use or plan on using to control engine timing, a/f, etc? Engine management seems to be the biggest obstacle for people to overcome for turbo setups on the 2zz especially. The 1zz apparantly has one or two work arounds that the Spyder guys use. They're pretty primitive, but I they say they work...
BTW, they have 2 turbo kits out right now for peeps not in the know.

Probably a piggy back system...Like Power FC. I doubt a full management system, but you never know.

The Power FC is a replacement ECU.

According to the original article from Turbo Magazine back in the day, they converted the whole fuel system to a return-type system, included a fuel pressure regulator to increase fuel pressure, and replaced the fuel pump. The ECU was left stock, and there was no additional electronic management provided. If they changed that setup, I haven't read about it anywhere. Also, when I saw the car at a show late last year, I did NOT see an S-AFC mounted or anything like that. 4PASNU is absolutely right about the Power FC being a full replacement ECU, and not a piggyback.

Eip tuning has a fully stand alone fuel management system already developed. Can control vvtl-i, and rev liimiter..

last i heard out of SCC was that XS was test fitting the celica with i believe tec-II that was going to be used for the matrix. info was in the turbomatrix article. dunno if they were gonna use it on the celi as well or try somethin different.
wish someone could tell us if the single line fuel system would be sufficient with say a tec-III or powerFC or if the powerFC would even work with a return system. i presume these are "test and see" questions tho

We use the Power FC. For the money, the Power FC is the absolute most powerful stand-alone fuel injection computer available. I have never had a good experience with teh TEC series and for that reason, we would NEVER use an Electromotive fuel injection. I just wanted to clear that up. We use other standalones like MoTec, DTA, Autronic, but never Electromotive.
