I've been noticing that the car makes wierd squeeking noises in the morning when I start it up. It doesn't make that at any other point in the day. Odd. I'm wondering if it's my imagination or the belt tensioner prob everyone talks about. What are the symptoms supposed to be?

sounds like it. is it REALLY loud? mines is almost to the point where i can hear it even with the windows up and radio on a moderate level.
it happens to me not only in the mornings but also cold starts...like 5 hours between drives.

Well, my windows are always up in the morning and the stereo's on when the car starts, and I can hear it, so if that's really loud then I guess yes? I haven't noticed it at any other time other than in the morning. Have you taken yours in to get fixed or looked at yet Jay?

nope. too busy to make a stop at toyota. frick they might even say my tint caused it.
i was hoping if i changed to the AEM pulley and whoever did it, installed it correctly, everything would run ok again.

Is yours getting progressively worse? I never noticed this prob before... I don't know if it was always there or just building.

somedays its really loud, somedays its quiet. either way, it goes away after about 5-10 minutes of driving. but it shouldnt be doing that. thats what pisses me off.

Actually, this thread is from 11/2001, shortly after I bought the car... when ppl first started to experience this problem. I've dealt with it a couple of times since then, and have learned to live with it since.
I have the same problem with our Lexus GS400. Eventually I'll swap out the tensioner myself. I don't really care to leave my car on Toyota City's lot overnight to have them check the tensioner out in the morning.

the other time i didn't have to leave it overnight the first time i got it changed.. but this second time they were being asses and said oh.. well we don't hear anything now .. besides you have like 3 more years on ur warranty... so when it comes back bring it back to us.......... they're calling me a liar =( those ****ers

Wells if toyota city or any toyota dealer ever giver me a problem with my tensioner they'll be in for a big surprise... They'll have RICO up their asses so fast they wont be able to think... DOE too. Ick. At least we got a percentage raise this year. Big whoopie twang tho, since we'll prolly lose most of it to higher taxes. :faint:
If it weren't for the benefits, I'd have been outta here a long time ago. Since I almost have my ten tho, I might as well stick it out for the full ten years and then quit.

Actually I work for HSPLS under DOE. I almost transferred to the Budget Department in the DOE building next to Queens, but I turned that job down when I found out they didn't have any parking. Looking back, I should have taken that job anyway. :(
Wow, I woulda thought working at one of the schools woulda been pretty cruise! Shoot, I wouldn't wanna work at a HS tho where the kids would prolly **** with my car.

Oh... Budget is always very busy... nice people that work there though... Nah the HS kids know its my car and they havent done anything to my car yet... the majority of the guys from SDR are from Moanalua and still get some siblings and friends that go there so they dont realy bug me... if anything they ask for the 411 on cruises- but thats about it...
