what is this tire going to be for? occasional racing? summer only? all season? your tire choices are vast. you really need to be specific.

i like the toyo, perelli and dunlops personally. right now i have nitto neojen and like them but i only got them so they would last longer at the time cuz it was the last set of tires that i wont have to purchase. my rims and tires were a college grad present last year...

I'd go with Pirelli. I have them and they are very good tires. I have the Pzero Nero M+S which is a tire for wet and dry surfaces (no snow). They get very good traction no matter the conditions of the road. They are made of a harder compound so you will be able to get more miles out of them compared to many low profile aftermarket tires. I believe the tread rating is 400 (the high the number, the longer the tread lasts) If you are only using them for dry surfaces you can just get the regular Pzero Nero (w/o M+S). However they have a tread rating of arund 380 i believe (still very good) They are a little softer compound to get better traction on dry surfaces! PM me if you need any help on sizing of tires as well.

i'm just curious, the Toyo are only $20 more than the pirelli, would it be worth it to just go for those? on a side note, in the performance column, it just gives letters, i feel dumb, but i have not idea what those letters stand for........

I believe the letters are for the maximum speeds they can handle. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, I'm a tire noob too.

Z rated tired have stronger sidewall, wont explode if taken at high speed. Letters go up the chain of quality while H and S rated tires are rare

s & h speed rated tires are actually the most common entry level performance tire
v & z speed rated are among the top of the line.

also depending on the weather where you live, pirelli's are horrible in Canada. they turn into plastic as soon as it gets cool. even all seasons.

what do u guys think of the Falken Ziex Ze 512 ? they're tied for the lightest tires w/ 2 two others, and it's rated V, so it's ranked as high as some of the other top of the line ones. now, i live in north east pa, so the winters can get bad, but i'm only gonna have performance rims and tires on in the summer when the roads are clear. thanks again for all your guys info

I bought a set of the Falken Ziex 512's to replace my stock tires about 2 1/2 years and 30,000 miles ago. I needed a tire for all seasons, up here in the northwest I needed something that could handel rain plus an occaisonal snow. These tires are truly all seasons, I've taken these tires into the mountains for some snowboarding with no problems. In the summer they stick to the road and are very predictable. There are better performing summer only tires but they are more expensive, don't handle wet weather, or last as long (30,000 mile treadlife). For the money these tires can't be beat. Discount Tires at www.tires.com carries Falken there you can read more reviews.
