Anyone here tried the TRD quick shift kit? Did a search for it but couldn't find anyone who had reviewed it..

Lots of people here have it. I've had mine for about 2.5 years now, and no problems or complaints about it.
overall much more solid and quick than the stock unit. However, some people have problems getting into reverse with theirs.

Ditto. I've had mine for a year.

I have one and cut about 3/4" off the top. Still the best feeling shifter out there IMO. I also had trouble putting it into reverse, but found out I installed it wrong by using the wrong bushings (doh!) the shifter lever can hit on the transmission tunnel if you use the wrong bushings.

I have also tried B&M - this shifter is stiffer I think because the ballson the end of the lever are slightly larger than stock/TRD.

first thing i did when i got the car was fit a TRD SS. Quality, no problems at all!

I've had my TRD Quickshifter Kit for a bit now w/kumosport bushings...

Does this all mean that if I order a TRD SS kit, it doesn't come with the bushings I need? Cause if that's the case I'll choose something else.

It comes with bushings. Actually, it comes with everything you'll need. They throw in a whole new shifting assembly. I've had mine for about a year and I love it.

Which year is your celica? If you have a 02+, I believe you have to remove the shifter from the housing it comes in and put it in the stock housing for it to work. I have a 03 and I had to do this in order to use the shifter.

I have a 2000 GT, so I should be ok then. The guy I bought it from works at Toyota so he might be able to get me a discount on TRD parts. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Even with a discount you'd be better off looking online.

Like they said, the TRD SS comes ready to put in. The speed source bushings go where the shifter cables attach to the tranny. I got my TRD from trd-source.com for aboot 120.00. The speed source bushings are like 20.00, and totally worth it. The shifter is quick and precise, with no slop.

Another thing to think about.. if you've had your tranny replaced, you might have an 02+ tranny. I have an 01 gt-s.. used to have the narrow shift gates. Toyota replaced my tranny under warranty and they replaced my tranny with the newer tranny with the wide shift gates. I went to re-install my TRD shortshifter.. and it was hard to get into reverse and some of the other gears. Swapped out the shift rod into the stock shifter assembly and it worked just fine.
