im about to install a remote start on my car. I already bypassed the clutch kill switch..piece of cake.

what im wondering is if its ok to only install the remote starter part w/o messing with the power door locks and alarm...my car has a factory alarm and really all i want it to do is auto start w/o messing w/ the door locks or anything else...u guys think thats ok??

Sure but why have two remotes when you can have one do everything?

i have a 00 gts as well. the factory alarm disarms with unlock so if you hook up your locks your factory alarm will arm and disarm when you arm/disrm the alarm.

im guessing u can't

most likely that is connected to the ignition.. & disables that when alarm is on.. i would just recommend ditch the stock system.

By adding a remote starter to a 6 speed, I'm assuming U would have to leave the car in neutral ALL the time, right? And is that NOT A GOOD idea? I mean, I've seen a couple of cars already back up into other cars in a parking lot becuase the car was left in neutral and NOT in 1st GEAR.

Which is why one inhibit lead on the remote start unit should go to the parking brake sensor.....

In an auto.... ppl just put it in Park.... w/a stick... if they aren't on a hill... some ppl just leave it in gear.

I never leave my car in gear, it wears the gears down gradually. As long as your parking brake works... I have thought about getting a complete viper alarm system for my car with a remote start, I might go with it

I bought a viper alarm with remote start for my Celica. I have a switch to disable the remote start if someone else drives my car or if I park on a hill and leave it in gear.

Doesnt matter. the car will take off like hell if the brake is set and its in first gear. I know from experience.

Yep and it will keep cranking the preset amount as well. So it'll crank, jerk forward, crank again, jerk forward, and crank one more time, and jerk forward. I've let it start in gear just to see how far it'd go. It's not a small little jerk either. It will do some damage if it hits something.

how cool is that. you crash your car and you aren't even behind the wheel. :gap:

it'd be nice to start my car on those cold mornings before i even go outside though
