i just bought one and i heard it would cost around $100 to install. is this right? they advertise the installation price as $45 plus the mounting bracket. is there a way to install the head unit to a aftermarket amp to the speakers w/o it costing me a arm and a leg? i know there was a thread similar to what i am asking but it was in jibberish and i need a translator. what would be the best way for me just to have my deck installed until i get the amp and component speakers? please oh please help me on this one here.

do everything ur self...its not that hard....if u have a single din...go to www.sounddomain.com and get the single dash kit and i bought my harness at circuit city... no need to cut any wires...everything is plug and play...if ur going to connect a amp...it shouldn't be that hard...just do it with a friend that has experience

Um..since you have the GTS, the only way would be to run wires from the deck to bypass the stock amp for now. (it'd be easier if it wasnt the premium sound system) If you plan on adding a new amp later, then you'll have to remove those wires, and connect it to the new amp, and run wires from the speakers to the new amp. Or cut the speaker wires from the amp, and run them to the new amp. Like JDM-Style said... just do it yourself. Its pretty easy, and its good knowledge to have. Trust me, its not as hard as you think. Just make sure you disconnect the battery first. The headunit will tell what color wires go where..and there is a guide on this website for the factory wiring.

Do it yourself and save your money. With that price quoted for $100 they are definately raping you. Take some time and bond with your car.

its not hard to do yourself but i'm worried if you don't think you can do it. if you don't have any bass when you're done, i think you did it wrong. because i think the stock amp powers the bass or something like that.

Yup, thats the only way to go. Unless you want to rewire the WHOLE system. Which I seriously doubt you do. Sorry it took me so long to reply, but i've been sick lately!

u mean to tell me that u have to run your a/m deck to your stock amp? what if u get an a/m amp, would u still run it to the stock amp? the sound would be sh*ty b/c the decks output is way more than the stock amp. that sux. thanks 4 the install page.

Yup, cuz all of the wires from the speakers run to the amp. They're not directly connected to the stock deck. What you have to do is run wires from you a/m deck long enough to reach your stock amp. Then unplug the output wires from the stock amp. And connect the wires that you ran down from the a/m deck to the output wires. Even if you get an A/M amp, you're gonna have to do basically the same thing. You'll unplug the output wires from the stock amp (or a/m deck, depening on your setup) and connect those to the output of the new a/m amp. Unless you want to reroute those output wires (which is ALOT of work) thats the only way to go.

nope, there isn't you have to bypass the amp, i took mine out completely and then you gotta wire the speaker wires from the new head unit to the wires that were going to the stock amp that power the speakers.

theres got to be another way. if you run the h/u to the stock amp it will just sound sh*ty. couldnt i cut the in and the out speaker wires that came from the stock amp crimp them together and rip out the stock amp. ok, for those of you that ran your h/u to the stock amp, how does it sound? clear? sh*ty? alright but could be better? i paid $409 for my deck and if someone installed and sounds half way sh*ty, talk about someone being irrate, postal. i'm gonna get medevil on someone azz.

No...thats exactly what we're saying. You have to bypass the stock amp (meaning remove it from the equation). This means that the wires from the h/u will be connected directly to the wires to the speakers. The only place you can actually access all of the wires to the speakers is at the amp. Sorry if my advice earlier wasnt very clear.
