Well after being driven in a C5 and driving the C5 the past couple of days it is clear to me that my next car will probably be a V8, high revving little civics are fun and all, the celica is great and what not but **** man this thing has power wherever and whenever, the power bands are like this basically the civic (Engine Speaking) "Okay not yet, not yet, not yet, calm down not yet, NOW!!!! come on hit me now now **** man now"
The celica (my celica) "I'm a factory freak and all I can manage to do is make noise so......NOW!!!!! Hit me!!!!"
The C5 "You wannt it now, how bout now, now, now, now"
I'm sorry for that gay analogy but its late and...
One perk that pisses me off is that whole shiftgate business how it goes into 4th when you dont punch second but even then at like 1500 RPM when you just mildly apply throttle the car will glue you back.
*sigh* :(
I'm done now.

Turbo wont compare to that response at 1500rpm, especially not on a 4cylinder.. sure it'll pull extremely hard higher in the band, but you still have to wait for a spool

i was planning on getting a 01 Z28 and i drove a lot of em.
i also tried to get a trans am 6 speed also.
i also drove a 02 Mustange Gt a few months back
still, why would we be launching at 1500rpm when were racing with a turbo?

I don't think anyone was talking about launching at 1500 RPM or racing. I think he is saying that the throttle response of the Celica at 1500 RPM is nothing at all like the throttle response of a V8 at 1500 RPM. When you're just cruiseing along in high gear and you smash the gas. With large amounts of torque you don't have to downshift and rev the heck out of it. With the Celica you'd have to downshift several gears to get you going at a low speed in a high gear.
I think that's what he was kinda saying. That's what I got out of it.
