I just put in a Panasonic VD7001U indash DVD unit into the car, I burned a whole bunch of MP3s onto a DVD, but it won't play in the car. I looked in the instruction manual and i THINK it says it ONLY supports MP3s off a CD? Is this true? How does that make sense?

in my experience, i've only burnt mp3 music onto a cd, never tried it on dvd. always works on a cd though, i can usually fit around 150 songs on a cd.

you can't burn just mp3's onto dvd, trust me, i've wasted plenty disks, you need to burn mp3's on to cdr. other option would be to use roxio to create a dvd full of songs (derived from mp3s) it's really simple, just google roxio.

Does that mean making a DVD audio disc??
You can't put that many DVD autio on DVD....
Give more detail on putting alot of songs on the DVD....
I had the idea of putting MP3 as data format on DVD... but I guess it doesn't work...

roxio can make audio dvd disc, and it does put a lot more songs than a regular cdr, just takes more time to make menus and convert into the right format

thx for the help!
I was hoping to fit more songs then that.... but oh well, I guess this will do for the time being. Its kinda stupid that the machine won't recognize MP3s off a DVD but will off a CD. How does that make any sense?

Nero 6 makes MP3 DVDs, should be able to put them into your car just by using that.

So basically it copies the MP3 to the DVD as data mode??
That's how MP3 CDRs are made.....

Simple it's laser can't read DVD-R discs this is common of most indash DVD units only the newer ones can read the DVD+/-R and RW.

Very few decks have DVD audio playback or DVD MP3 capabilites. I know of a JVC deck that can decode DVD MP3's off the top of my head.
