COROLLA RALLY CAR WITH 2ZZ engine!!!

in the june issue of Sport compact car there is a corolla with a 2zz engine 6spd manual running 189 hp with rev limit of 8320 rpms thats what it said!!! i was like WHAT!?! corolla with "OUR" ENGINE!!!! well i dont have the issue i was reading it from the stand but i think i'll get it and scan if for all to see and the corolla is a hatchback too... unless someone does before me

I believe that's the Corolla Fielder or something like that, aka Matrix. I don't follow the non-USDM market for cars. It gets too frustrating when you realize some of the kick ass cars the rest of the world gets compared to the US; even from US manufacturers (Focus RS for example)

Is Toyota even still in the WRC? Whenever I see that WRC coverage on Speed TV, I never see the Corolla.

It was covered in AUTOCAR some time ago. Or maybe it was WHEELS or MOTOR. At any rate, they thought it was an okay car. Personally, I'd like to drive it. Toyota reliability and more than decent acceleration. Too bad it's not imported here.

And I am thinking it would get it's ass kicked with an AWD 2ZZ. Just stick with the 3S-GTE, then import them here and take on the Evo and WRX. I'd take the Corolla hatch with the 3S over the other two.

uhh... why not an AWD new celica? hint hint... we might get some aftermarket then!... Oh and possibly a nice 7th gen alltrac... man I would love that... sorry for that... I need to go crawl back to my hole...

The 2ZZ would be useless for AWD. RWD, yes, that is what the Celica should be. But you really need more torque and power to use the AWD to it's potential.

I mean... they're $500,000 cars.... i'd imagine they could afford a nice turbo/supercharger for that

then you might as well use the 3S-GTE which can put more power out more reliably than the 2ZZ-GE, but isn't practical for lightweight FWD cars.
