I made a sharp right turn going roughly at 20mph into a pothole, about 3/4 foot deep and filled with water. Only the front right wheel plunged into the pothole but I could hear the water splashing all over the wheel. Going into the pothole close to 20mph felt pretty rough too.

The weird thing was as soon as I hit the pothole, a small trail of smoke started spewing from the hood right in front of the windshield for 2-3 seconds.

Could some possibly have been damaged from this?

It was probably just steam. Check your wheel for damage, and the underside of the car too. A hit like that can also jack up you alignment and/or bend tie rods, etc. If the car drives ok, then you're probably ok. You may want to have a mechanic you trust look at it just to be safe.

call the state roadway maintenence and tell them to fix it!

You might want to check your brake rotor for warping as it sounds like water hit the rotor and immediately evaporated. This could cause the brake rotor to warp.

Some city/county/states you can file a claim against damage a pot hole caused. Here if it is marked, meaning they know about it, and it causes damage to your car you can file a claim. If it is unmarked you can't which I think is stupid. Worth a try anyways if the damage is significant.

yea, you can, but the state is shiesty, trust me i used to work with them, ive heard stories where they were workin on bridges and stuff started fallin off, they only gave the first liek 3 cars insurance money, and claimed the other liek 20 it was theri fault, they saw the stuff falling, they shoulda moved

and even once its marked, they have 72 hrs to fix it

And I continue to punish the front right wheel with potholes. *cries*

I again hit another deep pothole with the front right wheel while making a left turn. It was a loud thump. And than some more through rattling small ones.

Wow. The snow has cleared from the streets and all I see are potholes everywhere! There are potholes in places where I've never seen before.

Guess I'll really have to check those tires now.

Thats the way it is around here where i live. We have potholes that you can loose your car in. The state doesnt care . Ive bottomed out in a few on accident, thats why i need a new front bumper :( PLus you cant keep a car clean here....Coal Trucks....that should explain it all.
