what type of radar do LI cops use?

i have a passport 8500 x50 and i noticed that cops on long island rarely (if ever) set it off. when i drive upstate most of them set it off wit Ka radar. In NJ and Penn they seemed to use K but on LI it never goes off when cops are sitting on the side of the road...idk if they are just sitting there or if they are using some other type of radar.

hrm good to know... can u get out of a ticket if they have no proof of ur speed? i know people used to say u could ask for a print out..is that true.

Last time i got pulled over, the cop told me that he caught me doing 50 in a 45?? I asked him that if he didn't have a laser gun, how did he determined that I was going 50?? He said that "in his expierence", he could tell... I went to court and "his expierience" was not good enough... I walked out not-guilty with a bonus prize: ---> another upset cop ready to catch me next time..lol

Hooked up celica = cop magnet. And before somebody says that it is all up to the way u drive it, I was driving my sister's corolla and my father took my car, I was driving behind him. My dad was driving extremely slow so I passed him a bit, a cop that was ahead of us saw us and pulled over my dad in my car eventhough I was going faster in the corolla....

I usually keep it 10mph above the speed limit. Or just keep up with traffic.

Actually the last time I got pulled over (7/05) it was for running a red light (I did run it pretty bad). He was really cool, didn't mention anything about my car, and only gave me a seatbelt ticket and told me to have a nice vacation... :thumbup:

When I test drove a fully TRD equipped red GTS back in the summer of '01, I was getting stares left and right. Cops, children, grandpa's, hot women, stray dogs, it didn't matter who it was because they were noticing it. :D Driving that car made me want a Celica.

everytime i've been to court, i've never had the experience getting that level where the cop there. i just talk to the DA and work something out OR if that does not work, i hand it over to my lawyer :gap:

bottom line is that we are still speeding. if it be 5mph over the limit or 25mph over the limit its still over. if they want to bust ur balls they will do so and the court system will back them up (even if they act arrogant, condescending, i'm god and ur not)

I've been hit with the Laser and Ka many times. I try to strongly stay away from the LIE, and use the Northern State Pkwy instead. Also, I'm going to invest in a laser jammer and police scanner, since I already have the V1. Driving the Celica and RX-7 attracts too much attention from cops, especially from the way I drive.

In the Northeast .. NY/NJ/CT, its always either the K or KA band. KA is more common with cops and K is more common with the road side speed display signs. Never X and once in a while they have Laser.

The rx7club.com forum also swear by the V1. The best feature about the V1 is that you can upgrade it anytime when they improve the V1 for a small fee. All you have to do is send in your old V1 and they will send you a brand new V1. Also, the arrows kicks ass!!! I constantly hit 130+mph and it has saved my ass many times, the V1 is definitely worth it!:thumbup:
