View Full Version : Wiring harness for GT what about GTS?

I was looking on crutchfield and they only showed a wiring harness for a GT 6speaker. Can I use this in my GTS?

I talked to the guy in Crutchfield, he said it does work with the GTS and the GT and that they have done many installs on both if the Celica has the 6speaker system.

If you don't have the premium sound system with the seperate amp, it should work.

I thought that all GT-S' come with the premium sound system...

well im gonna install my single din soon.... so only the GTS premium sound package has the amp right???

Aside from the obvious, looking on the window sticker, you can look for the amp. It is located behind the glove box on the outside wall of the car. Here is a pic of what it looks like (in the upper right):

Uhm, don't all GT-S's get the premium system stock? And it's 8 speakers btw...

YAh, thats what i was under the impression of. ALL GT-S' HAVE THE PREMIUM SOUND SYSTEM. So they all have an amp.

Not all GT-S have the amp and 8 speakers, it is an option. But an option that most people choose so 9 times out of 10 that is the way the dealer ordered them. They package "popular" options together. ie. fog lights and spoiler, leather and sunroof (you have to get the sunroof to get the leather, but you can't get it leather only)
I've only seen 2 celica's w/o a spoiler, even base GT's with wheel covers have them most of the time, a "popular" option.

There is no way to notice the # of speakers w/o taking the door panels off. That's why it is easier to look for the amp. The # of speaker grills is the same no matter which stereo. The extra Premium speakers are housed in the lower door in a mount over the woofer. See below.

Really? I didnt know that... by the way everybody talks, it sounds like all GT-S' have the premium sound system....They always say "the gt-s sound system" in lieu of "the premium sound system"... i dont have a GTS so i dont know... but i was just going by what i've heard...

That is the way it used to be any way. I just looked over the online specs from Toyota and they look like all GTS get the premium. Wasn't that way when I bought the car. I'll have to check a new 2002 GTS window sticker.

On my 2002 GTS my rear speakers dont have that Tweeter attached to it. Just the mid by its self. I have a six speaker system and then i just added my four channel amp to stock speakers and now it sounds awesome.

The picture above is of the front, lower door speakers used with the Premium system. No matter what system you have, there is only 1 speaker on each side in the rear.

I have a gt with the 8 spakers. there is no harness that works with this so I installed my kenwood 910dvd attached to the factory amp and it sounds better then before plus no I can watch TV.
There are....
two rear woffers
Two front woffers
two front mids
two front tweeters
thats all eight.
