been trying to trace a crackling/fading problem in the front right of my car. So far i changed the headunit and the way the rcas were hooked up to test if they were bad. The only other options i think i have are the floor where the speaker wire is tapped into the factory wiring, or the actual speakers or the 4channel.
anyone else have any ideas?

couple things....are your speakers powered by aftermarket amp or the stocker? it could have a lose wire somewhere, or touching metal, or unlike but possible, the midrange is blown...
how did you wired your aftermarket radio with you GT-S system? by cutting stock wires or use TA-03???

i have an alpine 4 channel, and i hardwired everything(not by cutting plugs but just tapping in for pwr, mem, grnd, and remote) for the door speakers I used the factory wireing and tapped in at the floor where it comes into the car and then it goes to the amp in back, also ran the extra wire to the crossovers. None of this stuff has been touched inside the doors so i dont know how a loose connection just showed up, but maybe it did.
at this point I really believe my problem is a failing crossover, or just a dying tweeter. Unfortunatley my only way to find out is to put in another set of components and thats $$$$ that i dont have right now.

here are somethings you can try...
i'm not sure when you say "alpine 4 channel" as in the deck itself or another amp? if it's powered by the deck, run the speaker wires from the alpine harness directly to the crossover. if you have an amp elsewhere, just run the output from the amp directly to the crossover...basically not using the stock speaker wires...
